Is there going to be an Avengers game?

Is there still going to be an Avengers game made this year to go along with the movie? Superhero games have always been a guilty pleasure of mine and I really hope one has been in development. That canceled THQ dubstep first person game looked amazing. I hope someone has been working another one.

They would have announced something by now.

Thq was making a first person one where you'd switch between heroes but it was cancelled, the video was posted awhile back

I haven't heard anything. I wonder if THQ still has the rights but cannot make the game?

I guarantee that there will be an Avengers game. My prediction; Sega puts it out and it is terrible.

How could they not put out a video game based on the movie that is the combination of like 18,000 other different, all profitable movies? It's a no-brainer business-wise (which is what big game companies do best nowadays).

I did some research, and it turns out the rights have defaulted back to Marvel. The aforementioned THQ game was meant to be associated with the film, but was canceled. Apparently, Marvel is currently "exploring potential publishing and licensing opportunities."

@Little_Socrates: Makes sense. In all honesty, most of those Marvel based film tie-in games bombed horribly. That first Iron Man game did well until people realized that it was a piece of shit. Hulk didn't sell so hot, Iron Man 2, Captain America, Thor all came and went.

I'm totally ok with them not making an Avengers game. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is basically that game anyway.

Its such a crazy idea of not making a shitty game and sticking the Avengers name on it, it would sell MILLIONS.

Right, because of of those Sega Marvel games were some hot shit.

I hope there isn't an Avengers game. Most games based off of movies tend to be pretty terrible. The ones that aren't terrible are mediocre at best.
