I just posted the following top ten games of all time over on NeoGAF. Might as well dump it here for memories sake. Granted, I took about five minutes to come up with the list, but sometimes I find those to be the most accurate.
1: Shenmue II
2: Mass Effect
3: Civilization IV
4: Metal Gear Solid
5: Trials HD
6: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
7: Full Throttle
8: Red Dead Redemption
9: Freedom Fighters
10: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
It must be official. (Top ten games of all time)

" Trials HD one of the greatest games ever made? Really? How many games have you played? "this
Well, why not at least tell us why you like these games. I think it's pretty meaningless to just dump 10 names in a thread without giving any reason why you think these games are the best ever.
And...back to NeoGAF. Keep up the great posting guys!
I am still confused as to how anyone would think it to be clever to laugh at (or question) someone else's personal tastes. And, yes, Trials HD absolutely belongs on my top ten of all time.
Beachthunder: I would, but this was a straight copy/paste from my contribution over on GAF. Like I said, the whole deal was a five minute endeavor.
*Note to self, never attach a blog post to a forum again.
I guess the one I'm personally having the most trouble with is Oblivion. Is there a special reason for that as in you played it with your cousin or something? I have some games that I love that most people might not have ever played, but they are always ones I think about when I think of my favorite games; the circumstances surrounding the time I played those games is much of the reason why I like them so much. BTW, I love Full Throttle.
Man I must have played a metric shit-ton of THPS2 back in the day, and I remember Freedom Fighters being pretty badass in my head, but the reality of the game being only somewhat badass.
Oblivion makes the cut, and so high on the list as well, due to a few factors. It was my drought game during a stretch where neither money or interest (in other titles) was abundant. I enjoyed Oblivion for around 80 hours, which is not anything compared to the time in some multiplayer games, or Civ IV for that matter. But, in the end, as I look back upon that time spent, all of it was quite enjoyable. The main quest was somewhat forgettable, but the rest of the world made that game feel alive. The experience of traipsing through the woods and stumbling upon a new village was amazing. The size of the world, the plethora of side quests, and the guilds, whose story lines bested the main campaign, wrapped this all up in an unforgettable package. My hard drive got corrupted due to a glitch in an Xbox Live update, and due to the structure of the guilds (two of which were the only thing I was missing achievement wise) I was able to jump right back in, despite my item and level loss and enjoy them through to the end. I also seized that opportunity to vastly change my character for about the fifth time. All in all, the experience itself, as a whole, made up for some of the obvious shortcomings of the title. It makes a solid entry to my top ten of all time." I guess the one I'm personally having the most trouble with is Oblivion. 10. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
it must be official !
Persona 4 is not on your list, thus it is immediately an illegal official top 10 games of all time list
carry on folks
As one Ben Throttle to another, I have to tell you that name-dropping NeoGAF like it's the fucking Freemasons or something is just about the saddest thing in the world. Why are we supposed to care that you posted your list on NeoGAF? If you want to discuss it there then go discuss it there. If you want to discuss it here, fine - your list is kinda shitty.
Wow, we really are being hostile. I mean, that one guy who came in and kept talking about hating everyone for playing mainstream games... i remember that. That was different, this guy just likes games.
I'm a bit surprised to see no 8 or 16 bit games here. Then again, I'd probably only throw those in for the sake of their influence.
" I have to tell you that name-dropping NeoGAF like it's the fucking Freemasons or something is just about the saddest thing in the world. "
you just won the thread with this quote
People are laughing at you because the thread title makes it sound less like you are listing a personal, subjective top ten list and more like you're trying to make an objective list that speaks for all gamers everywhere. In that case, you're list is laughable.
You probably would have been better off calling the thread something like "My top ten games of all time".
BTW Freedom Fighters is rad. Glad somebody else in the world besides me played it.
This list is in no particular order and is certainly not official:
-Resident Evil 4
-BioShock
-Portal
-Super Meat Boy
-Deadly Premonition
-Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
-Team Fortress 2
-Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Super Mario World (can't just pick one, been playing them all for too long)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 2
-Pokémon Blue
Sorry, I meant to include Red in there. RED!
" @Little_Socrates: Pokemon Red is OBVIOUSLY superior. I mean, come on. :P Sorry, I meant to include Red in there. RED! "I always preferred Butterfree to Beedrill (though I know both were available in both games, the rarity was modified) and Sandslash to Arbok (partly because I've never liked poison types.) That said, Scyther is way cooler than Pinser, and Electabuzz is way cooler than Magmar. (Primeape and Persian are incomparable, both are too epic.)
Is there any other disparity between the two? I mean, there's Nidoking/Nidoqueen, but both Nidorans are so common in the Safari Zone that it didn't really matter.
my personal top 25 games of all time are (in no particular order):
Persona 4 (ps2)
Starflight (sega genesis)
Final Fantasy Tactics (ps1)
Mass Effect 2 (360)
Shadowrun (sega genesis)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (sega genesis or snes)
Starcraft 2 (pc)

Star Wars Arcade: sit down cabinet (arcade)

Might and Magic 3 (pc)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (atari 2600)

this list is unofficialy official according to my brain

Obviously not exact to mine, but Metal Gear Solid, Red Dead and Full Throttle would definitely be in my top 5.
Context; you should look it up. I did not namedrop anything in this thread. I included the link which would have taken you to a top ten games of all time thread had you bothered to follow it. The inclusion of the link was also to advise people viewing my blog post as to why it would seem so abrupt and lacking of descriptions. My second mention was to relay my disappointment in the quality of responses thus far. Also, if you had read my blog post, instead of simply trolling it, you might have noted that I posted it for my own benefit to have it easily accessible in the future. You know, where I said "for memories sake"? I wanted an easy place to access and recall my present stance on the issue at hand. While I was at it, I thought it might be grounds for a thoughtful conversation among others who share my passion for games. (Hence, why I included it on the general forum) Your response to my blog post is the kind of thing giving the GB forums a poor flavor. Next time, perhaps you should ask yourself what you are contributing to a thread before you vomit all over it." You created a topic in a public forum, with no context, and a link to a thread on another forum with no context.
People comment on the fact that your list isn't very good/lacks context.
You get mad because people made those posts in your thread. Then you tell people that they should've read your blog post, which you didn't even mention in the OP, and didn't link to anywhere in the thread?
I don't know what you were expecting with this thread. Were we supposed to absorb and translate your thoughts over the internet?
Seriously man, I wouldn't want people crapping on my list either.
