I think there may have been a few hints about this in recent weeks, but it sounds as if both Giant Bomb and Gamespot are moving a few floors down in the CBSi building and into some new spaces. What isn't really mentioned in Danny's post is when the move might be occurring. I imagine it will be a good deal of work to not just build a studio/workspace, but move everything from the current one downstairs as well. Hopefully there isn't too much in the way of downtime.
It sounds like Giant Bomb is moving into a new space soon.
@meatball: I imagine shifting their currently-existing setup downstairs to a new studio will be a lot easier than creating a new studio in a new location from scratch, which has been the GBeast issue so far. But I guess we'll find out soon enough! I'm not opposed to this although hopefully with GameSpot moving too it won't mean that random people stop wandering in during live shows.
Sure the guaranteed multi-day full stop on production is going to suck, but it's the loss of the current Giant Bomb set that is the real shame. Over the last couple years they've developed that space into an incredibly attractive set, brimming with personality. I've no doubt that they can make the new studio into something great as well, but man, I really like the current set. The set for The Lobby is also very slick, and will also be a shame to see dismantled.
I wonder if the GB guys are gonna be situated right next to a dumpster so that they can just toss all the boxes instead of waiting for it to pile up...
But then again, how else are we supposed to get these gold spring cleaning videos?
you know what, they should just put the GB duders as far away from any sort of trash receptacle as they can, so that the trash pile up gets super worse and the spring cleaning videos will be super gold!
I'd be curious to know if the move is CBSi mandated because of some logistical reasons (maybe rent a floor down is cheaper). Orrrr if Vinny and Drew requested real studio space like 3 years ago and the request was just approved by management that seems to work at glacial speeds lol...
Damn. I hope they didn't get the money and run from the BLLSL subscription sale in anticipation of the "getting used to the new office" slowdown that we saw a few years ago. I couldn't bear another one of those.
Also hoping this isn't the case, but the last time they did a subscription sale was right before Vinny left for New York, along with the content gap that of course created.
