@schizogony: You can do the “PM all mods” thing if you want to clarify how much rope you have to talk about/promote the game you’re working on. Don’t quote me on this, but I think if your game is some kind of for-fun personal project you’re probably fine to talk about. Maybe a different answer if the game is going to be sold commercially in any way.
The forum rules technically say “no” to advertising games or blatant self-promotion, but I assume the intent there is primarily to discourage shady devs from creating an account just to do guerrilla marketing spam/SEO manipulation for their game on the forums.
Simple promotion of your game probably isn't ok, but discussion/details of how it was made probably is. Tools used, how you organized the project, how much it cost, how long it took, what you learned in the process, etc. I'd find that stuff interesting.
Or maybe it is not allowed, I don't know, I'm not a mod.
