As in Deep Silver and new owners of Saints Row.

Pretty sure it is pronounced "cock", on the bombcast they seemed to think it was "coke" - any Germans want to weigh in?

I thought it was "koch". Like "Heckler and".

EDIT: While searching for this on Google, I came across this, a handgun forum that asked this very question about how to pronounce the "Koch" in "Heckler and Koch".

One of the most frequently asked questions to arise on the HKPRO boards is the correct pronunciation of Theodor Koch's last name. Most center around "coke" "kotch" or "kock".
In actuality, there are two ways to correctly pronounce Koch. Let's call them the American version and the German version. In German, the letters "ch" do not sound like they do in English. "Church" is not a ch combination that the Germans ever pronounce. It is more of a chhhh that somewhat sounds like phlegm being summoned from the rear of the throat.
As for the English pronunciation, the correct way is "coke." Former New York mayor Ed Koch ("Kotch") may have muddied things up, but if you get confused, you can always say, "HK."

If Koch the game company took their name from, or pronounces it similar to, the above, then there is your answer.

EDIT 2: And I was thinking "Kotch", by the way, with the "ch" sounding like "church". But apparently for English it's "Coke"

if they're a german company it would be pronounced with the long vowel sound for 'O' - like in 'Coke.'

also- the 'CH' would be soft- like you find in the german pronunciation of 'Munich' as 'Muenchen.' but we don't have a soft 'CH' sound in english, so the closest pronunciation would be a 'K' sound.

tl;dr - pronounce it 'Coke.'

/kɔχ/, rhymes with loch, like Loch Ness. Unless you pronounce that with a /k/ as well. That's fine too, I guess.

It's so easy if you know it but hard to explain.

1. Ko as in Cock

2. ch as in... well I only think German words have this sound (and some Dutch words come close... so why not put a video here. It's the first option she explains.

Loading Video...

Edit: Koch as rhyme to Loch is close but the proper pronounciation of loch would end more to mixture of Lock and Log.

Maybe in American (see post by believer258). Being British and having learnt German for a couple of years, I would have always said the phlegm noise the Germans would say. Like Kogh. But with a ch noise as well. In the back of your throat.

I never, ever have heard someone pronounce that combination of words as "coke" though! Not saying it's wrong, it just sounds so weird to me :P

A friend of mine who is of Eurasian descent said that the Arabic and German languages did have some similarities in regards to how they pronounced their words (I'm not sure what is the proper term of what I described just now). He said that this proved pretty useful when he was learning to speak in Deutsch. It also kinda reminds me of the proper way of pronouncing the "h" in "Ahmed" and it would probably sound similarly to "ch" in "Koch" when spoken in German.

Koch Media appears to be based out of Europe, so that's a big indicator as well.

Different Koch. Koch Media came from Europe, some dudes named Franz Koch and Klemens Kundratitz.

If it's pronounced German, it's more like 'cock', in fact [kɔx] in IPA. So the consonant at the end is like 'ch' on loch of Loch Ness. Koch in German means 'cook' (Sg. der Koch, Pl. die Köcher), but is also a widespread second name like many occupations such as Miller (Müller). Check out the second pronunciation on this link's audio if you want to hear it: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/koch

However, some German names are pronounced differently in the US, and some German expats prefer their name to be spoken in an anglicized manner (the soccer player Jürgen Klinnsmann for example). I'd still put my money on the German pronunciation though.
