Looking Very GameSpottish Lately.

Not that its a VERY bad thing.  It just seems weird to me.  The full blown page ads and format.  You can say it left a bad taste in my mouth since the last one I remember like this was Kane & Lynch.
 
I'm all for supporting the site and Jeff's new ventures.  (I even bought the buggy iPhone app!)
 
I hope it doesn't get out of control.

The good news is it still loads 2 seconds faster.

I really don't see how ads in the backround is a bad thing, I see them for about .00000000000000000001 seconds before I click to the forums.

And some of the background ads are pretty cool. At least it's not IGN where every page i go to is interrupted by one of those in-browser pop-up page cover things.

What do you think allows something like Giant Bomb to run? 
 
It may run on pancakes and booze, but advertisements pay for that.

Have you seen ads for games that suck?... That's what I thought.

I saw Gamespot when Jeff and the guys were still there and I've seen Gamespot in recent times and I really don't think Giant Bomb looks like Gamespot.

People come here for the editorial content, Ads are irrelevant

again with bitching about ads? hell, im not even going to say this to contradict...but i actually LIKE the ads. they make sites look much more vibrant in my opinion, as long as its not flash ads with video that makes the site itself crawl, im all for ads

 Seriously,the ads are not that bad they help this wonderful site run.

To be honest; the ads I've seen on here have all looked good, which is something you can't say about other sites. 
 
So give them credit where it's due.

You are attributing something that every website needs to operate as a Gamespot specific trait.

Adblock Plus has protected my eyes from all the adverts on Giantbomb as of yet, haven't seen a single one.

Giantbomb was just jeff's idea (in regard to the jeffs new ventures comment).  And you need to have ads if you want to survive.

If you're talking about the recent influx of System Wars threads then yes, it is looking very GameSpottish lately.

This does not seem like a very useful or productive thread If you're interested in having a serious conversation about the advertisements on Giant Bomb, there are more productive ways to do so.
