Major video game websites fooled by 4chan photoshop

NeoGaf wrote up this story. Originally, Monster Hunter Portable 3 was listed on Play.com for the Vita. Someone on 4chan reportedly made an image which listed that GTA: Vice City Nights, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and Tales of Innocence R were also headed to the platform. Eurogamer.net was sent the image, and posted an article with the photoshopped listing and treated it as a leak. Joystiq, Kotaku, GameSpot, and IGN took Eurogamer's post and shared it as well.

Not surprised that those sites would be the ones to take something coming from 4chan seriously

I fell for it but if you think about it, it would've been too good to be true. At least the combined announcement of all those titles...

Regardless if that picture is Photoshop or not, logically speaking, GTA on the Vita is bound to happen sooner or later. It's only a matter of what setting and when it's going to get released.

Yup. And then he whinned about it. Alex also posted the Soul Caliber ad thing which was super fake. Did that Neo Geo Pocket thing end up being confirmed as fake also? It sure looked like a photoshopped Iphone. It happens. It's kind of amusing.

Why so many of these gaming news sites need to do more fact checking before putting up something. If it's real then a delay will be understandable but if it's a fake news item like this then the site won't look foolish.

Giantbomb didn't report it because giantbomb is a quality website unlike those ones.

This is why I've always liked Patrick even as far back as the 1Up days. He seems to not get sucked into that mess.

I think it's more that they are still drunk at GDC, and pretty much forgot they have a site that would like some content.

The Image looks like someone just stretched them to fit.

Those "photoshops" are horrible. 
And bad websites with bad reputation continue to gain bad reputation.
