I expect a fine tuned to a spit shine of polished greatness from Bioware on this game. I truly think we are looking at a all time great one here folks. A game that we look back ten years from now just like we do with Zelda 64 and Golden eye that set a standard that kind of stuff or Half Life PC or RE4.
Mass Effect 2 is starting to smell like something masterfull.
If Bioware pulls it off and the game runs buttery smooth. I'm expecting a 2 disk masterpiece of 80-100hrs of gameplay that we will be cleaning our britches of poop from playing a game of this mangatude. I'm feeling a Star Wars kind of franchise epicness starting to sink in.
Mass Effect 2 will be one of the sickest games in gaming history.
"A few key things that have me drooling now. According to Bioware they sware the game runs smooth as butter now. But what really has me drooling is you can pin point and blow off body parts of enemies. And when you do this they will still crawl and come at you anyway they can until you full finish them off. That is like the Terminator i'm STOKEDCool.
"
" I'm feeling a pretty epic disappointment coming on for you...and I still think the game's going to be pretty awesome :p "Yeah.
In terms of refinement, which is fine, the game will be superb.
But in terms of "revolutionizing the industry", no.
Almost no chance, but I like that optimism.
And who knows, you may be right and I wrong.
Regardless, it's gonna rock.
" I would feel this way about the first game if the technical stuff was better. "Yeah Is still think the first game is freaking amazing anyway. And Bioware claims no more empty planets or world and no more bad frame rates. We will have huge full worlds that are much more alive and active. And smooth non tech issues on a 2 disk set of greatness. I'm telling you I'm feeling it on this game I really am.
" I'm feeling a pretty epic disappointment coming on for you...and still think the game's going to be pretty awesome :p "I agree. Your expectations are too high. I still think this game will be awesome, but if the frame rate is at all consistent, I will be very (pleasantly) surprised.
They are not revolutionizing the industry. Beside they set the standard anyway they are just further there own standards and now fixing tech issues. I think this game will be what FF7 was to rpg lovers of the PS1 days." @EthanML said:

It is because the pause and play style is gone it is more of a Gears Of War style action with a full A button for cover system." @EthanML said:

But as far as "doing to FPSes what FFVII did to RPGs" goes, it's debatable. Again, I love your optimism though.
" @RiddleBrother said:We'll see. It could be like AC2, where they built on it's predecessor and improved old systems. I think it's going to be good, but, they have a lot of problems to fix from the original. I'm just saying, it wont surprise me if they can't solve all of them. As long as there's radial menus for dialogue options, and I get to suspend dudes in mid air while I shoot them, I'm good.It is because the pause and play style is gone it is more of a Gears Of War style action with a full A button for cover system. All I can say is that is the shit when you get that erie feeling of an enemy crawling at you with one leg and one arm while you back stepping and unload an slug in it's head for the final blow to kill it. This added bonus is really nice I think.
I heard they streamlined the charcter progression system in favor of sound 3rd person shooter mechanics.
No more spending points on gun types. You can handle them all perfectly from the get-go. Of course you will favor guns, which you've got special abilities with, depending on your class.
Love the sound of that... plus, Bioware just can't go wrong with their character and story writing, which will be at least as amazing as always.
I'm hyped for the game; but not overhyped.
I just believe that I'm in for a treat on January 26; I don't expect it to shatter my expectations or anything. I just want to play a good game; a good ME1 with technical improvements over the combat which I hated.
Setting a low expectation can sometimes do wonders to make games seem more epic. =P
A few key things that have me drooling now. According to Bioware they sware the game runs smooth as butter now.
The fact that the game runs smooth should NOT be touted as a feature and hyped. Fuck that, that should have just HAPPENED. Also should just be expected of a game of that caliber.

Listen Mass Effect 1 was a HUGE ambition to make. And they already admitted they had trouble learning the U3 graphic engine it was new to them. Now they are good working with it and they basicly are now taking an already amazing epic franchise of a game and now just pimping it out to a masterpiece in all regards. Not to mention they said fuck it lets not worry about trying to fit this on one disk. Fuck it 2 disk so it can be fleshed out and really add to these big open worlds and make them come alive like they should be." @Tiger_Got_Wood said:

I'm almost expecting a score of 10 from Gamespot and a 5 from Giantbomb. And if it does not get a 10 from GS. Then It will get a 9.5 that is a LOCK
Are you a Bioware PR person or something? It seems every reply you just quote and then say some random detail about how great the game will be.
" Are you a Bioware PR person or something? It seems every reply you just quote and then say some random detail about how great the game will be. "No not at all. I'm just saying I think we are looking at the next GREAT game that gets remembered in the same vein as Zelda 64 or RE4 or Half Life. I just think this is a special one.

Pretty much this...
FFVII was revolutionary, not by the fact that was all that different from what was created before, but because it was a major release on the west (USA and Europe) that received major appraisal, and was in 3D! Games have changed fairly since then, and i don't believe the graphics will be all that revolutionary, or the game itself. But like Spike said, i could be wrong.
@supermike6:
Hahah yeah looks like it.That being said, I loved ME, and the tech shit didn't actually bother me. It's just that fixing something like that is NO reason to be excited for something. I'm waiting till I play it to pass judgement, and the only thing that'll get me excited is if they made a video of what exactly is being done to make this game look like the 2nd coming of jesus to you, OP. Tiger Woods guy.
Man IDNO I think the graphics in Mass Effect 2 once we get it and slap it on our HD TV's it's going to blow us away. Some of the cutscenes i've seen look like fucking candy it looks that good." @Magresda said:

The graphics are going to be retarded good.

I'm excited for this game's release as well tc. I thought ME was a great game, and by all I've seen this game is a pretty major improvement.....from the darker atmosphere and vibe, to the smoothed out combat controls, to the more intricate models, to an apparent smoother FR and lack of pop-in. They have gotten a lot better at using the UE3. I just assume the story will be top notch sci-fi like the first, that in my experience was the best story ever in a game. Also the fact that all my consequential choices, and my Shepard can be carried over from ME1 is just gravy. Can't wait to play it on the 26th.
ME2 will not be 80-100 hrs long. Bioware said that is will be longer than ME1, but not as long as Dragon Age. The ME games are meant to be shortly strewn experiences that you replay repeatedly for different examples. That's not to say ME2 will be disappointing, oh no. In fact, the game is as ambitious, as it is clean. It's my most awaited game of '09, and it's oh-so near.
