Seeing the lack of sign posted rules and guidelines because of release gives everyone that perfect freedom. Thing is that GiantBomb and the people involved dont want it to devolve into an immature, and unregulated site. Yes they want freedom of speech like the rest of, they want that feel of a non-company owned site that people could use for gaming, but I can already see the posters being prolific in being trolls, making fun of other users, being disruptive and spammy, even offensive. Though the only thing we can do is - + a post, I would love to see the whole moderation system unfold, and possbily be apart of it.
For anyone wanting to be a moderator or inquing moderations or the future of moderations should try to discuss it here.
Moderators
As stated in previous, similar threads this isn't wise. People will be granted moderation privileges through their actions and not discussion or constant claims of ability to be a great moderator. If you wish to inquire about what a good mod might be like, ask a current mod (e.g. CitizenKane).

Hopefully they will choose them soon. But the more people discuss about this the less a chance they will become one. So right now we just need to lay low and let them choose. Our concern should be choosing mods that would do the best job to help the site grow, not the ones who say they want the job the most.

how would said actions bejudged? I am confused on how the staff pick out users from the pack that would make good choices. I see heavy partnering with GS moderators to see whats going on with who. Do you know other moderators btw? and how/where to contact them?
besides the fact of their being a need for them, how are the guidelines being made? I see it being possible a watered down version of GS's tou. Which is great, but really depends on what Jeff and the gang want to do to keep their new found community in functioning order.
Id love to be a moderator. Not to boss anyone around or to feel powerful. I just want to help the community out
"Usually, the people who ask to be one are nerdy forumers who are gonna take it stupid-serious."I'd almost rather a mod be "stupid-serious" about his job than totally lax.
The ones that will do the best job are the ones that don't spam posts. People who can help out the community the most even if they don't want too.
"I don't think using GS mods here is a good idea since one of them is an active spammer on this site"
i doubt that some of them will be who you think they are, there are alot of impersonators abound. Of course wanting to be a moderator sounds powerhungry, but does asking to help? I see it that some people genuinely like to help a website, and they volunteer* to be one. So if its easy enough for the staff to want to take you on, that is great. But volunteering shows you want to be a helpful part of society, and I wouldn't think that as a bad thing. Of course you would background check the person to see if they arent joking around, but I still will like to see how it unfolds from here.
"Br3adfan said:I agree. LJ_Basic had a poser and he admitted he wasn't LJ. Also I agree with your mod opinions. That's why I have now decided to keep my mouth shut. Let Jeff and the staff chose the right mods at the moment. Whoever can provide the site with the best help is who should be chosen. But what is wrong with wanting to help. Let the staff decide as I have said along with many others. We all are here wanting to see the site grow and become popular."I don't think using GS mods here is a good idea since one of them is an active spammer on this site"

"I really don't like moderators, personally. They tend to let the power go to their heads.Don't look now....But I think you just got the power.
"
So are you going to do our bidding?
Anyone know anything about this BoG guy? Seems like a loser to me.
:)
Edit: I stand firm in my statement.
"I really don't like moderators, personally. They tend to let the power go to their heads.Hey we have a new mod. Congrats BoG. You deserved it!

"The first post I read of BoG's, he told me off for tripple posting.LOL Welcome to GB mods. Jk he probably didn't recognize the names just the avy. That's why avy's are important.
It was three guys with the same avatar :|

"I_smell said:I love you baby girl. So no hard feelings."The first post I read of BoG's, he told me off for tripple posting.apologies for that. All I saw was that twice someone had posted the same short message, so I I said no triple posting.

"I find it funny that BoG become a mod and people are like: oh, BoG, I love you. Let me send you a friend request! Don't ban me! :DNot true. Why should I fear him? I have done nothing wrong so I don't fear that he will ban me. I was mearly congratulating him. There is not reason to fear him for me because I haven't done anything remotely bad.

"They need a LOT more mods, like dozens.I think maybe 30 mods would be enough for 10,000 people.

"Why_So_Serious said:True but it would be enough for ahwile. Its not the quantity of mods. Its the quality. Because its starting to get a bit...ridiculous. Topic creation wise."Why_So_Serious said:True but it would be enough for ahwile. Its not the quantity of mods. Its the quality. "They need like 6 or 7 active mods. Y'know, timezones, all that shite.Exactly thats why a descent number of 25-30 mods that look over the whole site is better than a mod designed for each section.
How do you find moderaters for boards like the Hamburger forum or the Moustache forum?

The tighter you squeeze, the more slips free.
The fact that I can say fuck and cunt here is good old-fashion American. But look around, I'm not seeing the degradation of all I hold dear. In fact, quite the opposite. I am extremely impressed by the positive attitudes, humorous posts, and intelligent members present at GiantBomb.
It is when people further scrutinize and crack down that people start acting out. Give them (us) freedom and when the few get slightly out of hand and are blatantly disruptive, the moderators will crack down; however, the many still retain their freedom.
The system is fine. Let it be.
