I cant find the video but it was on IGN, and it said 250k people voted for the best shooter on IGN between COD and BF3 and BF3 won. Isnt this pretty lame and pathetic kind of commercial. I mean it wasnt a scientific poll...

IGN is a pretty big, important and well-known gaming site out there. Advertising an achievement like winning their community's award would be something I would do if I was a publisher. I don't see how that's pathetic at all.

Also "legit outlet" is subjective.

companies tend to do that. remember the coke versus pepsi commercials? where one guy can choose between a can of coca cola and a can that cleary looks like a can of pepsi? in this commercial, the actor / the producer of the commercial makes the vote for the consumer. so why is there a problem when ea uses a legitimate poll to advertise their game? battlefield 3 and modern warfare 3 look so much the same, how should a normal person differentiate them? why not clearly say: "look, people voted and battlefield seems like the better game to them. so why don't you buy our product?" it's marketing 101, only the target group is "epic bros"
