I don't see any disadvantages at all with trying it. It seems a lot cleaner, and even kinda faster. I do like the original way of getting my friend list up since I can just click it really fast, and here you have to click it then get a drop down menu to bring it up, but its hardly a huge deal. Going through the new game screen will take some time to get used to as well, but it seems alright to me.
I will say as simple as it looks(the original not beta UI) I always kinda liked it, especially for sorting games from installed/uninstalled/favorite. This UI in general looks a bit fancier and is definitely nicer in some ways, but I did like the simplicity of design and how fast you could sort stuff like that in the regular version as well.
I'm not sure which of these is sadder. How long it took them to finally work on the steam app, or how this is the most exciting thing to happen in my life for years. On second though, its kind of obvious which one is sadder. Sigh...
" gah yeah dont update if you play modern warfare 2 cause it makes you redownload the whole game for whatever reason "
Or you could just close Steam then rename the MW2 folder to something else. Then update Steam and once it starts re-downloading MW2, shut down Steam then name the old MW2 folder back to what it was, replacing the one that Steam started downloading again. Now launch steam and re-check the integrity. Then it wouldn't have to download much, if anything else.
" It looks greaat. Love the grid view. But yes there are some weird bugs watch out people. Whatever games it seems to want to download again I can just start up and start playing... weird. LIVE DEMO FOLKS. "
That's not actually downloading the game proper, just the menu artwork and other new Steamclient integration features for each title as necessary (probably deemed by when they get updated).
