NoHopeLeft.com Likely Capcom Viral Marketing Stunt

Look, Resident Evil 6 is coming. Whether the NoHopeLeft.com website is a teaser for that announcement isn’t really known.

The website popped up a few days back, and certainly makes it sound like a walking dead apocalypse is nigh.

TheSixthAxis knew Capcom wouldn’t acknowledge the marketing campaign, so they decided to get clever. The website contacted the advertising agency responsible for the graffiti-like marks appearing in Europe, and was told Capcom is responsible for the ads.

“Panel number is 2375 03 Parry Street,” the ad firm told the site. “The company advertising on it is CAPCOM.”

Evidence of Resident Evil 6 has been mounting for months and months. There have been voice actors with the games on their resume, and allusions made by those involved in the Resident Evil movies. Just announce it already!

We'll know one way or the other pretty soon: the website alludes to a reveal tomorrow.

EDIT: Already fixed. Sure don't understand why the headline can't be proofread once or twice beforehand...

I'm curious to see where they'are taking the series. After 5, I can't see where they'd go, since it is no longer a matter of escaping a place with your life. Now it's more about fighting a war agains a virus, but the scale was already so big that they'd have to do some very weird stuff to make it seem more meaningful.

Was that woman speaking Chinese by chance? Because there was that voice actress who was said to star as Chinese woman/zombie or something like that. It's all easily linking up towards the next step in RE, and despite where the franchise has been left--or maybe even in spite of it--I'm now more intrigued than ever to see where my once favourite video game franchises lead to.

A reboot would be able solve a lot of the franchises problems, but then what would be the point with Revelations, and also reintroducing a lot of the older characters in Operation Raccoon City? Revelations, being a prequel, would be a weird entry to have as the last of the ''previous canon'' if this does turn out to be a reboot, though ORC I could see is just there to milk nostalgia out of die hard fans (which is totally working, as far as I'm concerned..).

I have to say it kinda ruins the whole thing if you just go straight to the fucking ad firm and ask what it is.

I'm sure there'll be a suspicious amount of Caucasian/Russian (I'd laugh so loud if that exact Plagas model guy with the Gessepi moustache was in it) Zombies/Ganados/Las Plagas/WhateverTheFuck's in there to balance out things. Also you'll have a plucky Chinese compatriot to smooth out any further claims of racism, naturally...

Though with that said, Ada Wong I'm pretty sure is of Chinese descent... and her arc also happens to be one of the few loose ends still left hanging in the series, too.

Resident Evil is one of my favorite series and I was disappointed when they went with the Las Plagas monsters instead of zombies in 4 and 5 so I'm totally on board if they want to do a new Resident Evil with zombies.

When I saw "No Hope Left" in the article's title, I thought this was going to be a follow-up on the THQ story.

They're also celebrating Resident Evil's 15th anniversary this Friday in Japan and livestreaming it to the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd show something there.

Resident Evil 5 is one of my favorite games of this generation. Looking forward to what direction they'll be taking 6.

i want this to be RE6, but i could hold out a few more years (next console cycle). RE6 and Devils Third are two games i'd like to see on next generation consoles.

So we all know the game is going to happen (duh). And now we know Capcom is gearing up to talk about it being a thing. So who cares! The only thing you're getting riled up and anxious about is the beginning of an expensive ad campaign. Anything you're going to see for the next few weeks (or months, or year!) will be a closely controlled teaser at best. I love the series to death but please guys, don't fall into the dumb marketing trap or think for a second anyone other than the ad company and marketing department is anything but ecstatic that people are talking about this a little early. Still, props to TheSixthAxis for doing some actual, ya know, journalism.
