Holy shit. It's been 8 years since 2001, and we're very soon coming upon the 8th anniveraary of some of the biggest games to come out this decade. Here's a layout for everyone:

October 17 : Devil May Cry
October 22: Grand Theft Auto III
October 28: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
October 30: Civilization III

(It tails off for a couple weeks, then whoa. You could say that these two days were the biggest in video game history)

November 14: Dead or Alive 3
November 15: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
November 15: Halo: Combat Evolved

I mean, holy shit. And I'm not even including Silent Hill 2, Gran Turismo 3, Final Fantasy X, Red Faction, and Max Payne.

It's kinda crazy seeing all those amazing games released so closely together. I don't think a lineup like that will ever happen again. What does everyone else think?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.  The best skating game of all time.  All of the times.

I see Jeff is online, so maybe he'll answer: How crazy were those two months in reviewing games? You probably had to dedicate a bunch of attention to all of these games, so how busy were you?

A great few months indeed. It's arguable as to whether or not it is indeed the best 2 release months in gaming history, but for me, November 15th is very significant, since my favorite game of all time, Metal Gear Solid 2, came out on that day.

October/November 2004 can compete.

  • Half-Life 2
  • World of Warcraft
  • Metal Gear Solid 3
  • GTA: San Andreas
  • Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door
  • Halo 2

Some huge games there.  I'll admit 2001 had some good shit.

1998. And here is why

Half-Life
Banjo-Kazooie
Metal Gear Solid
Tekken 3
Resident Evil 2
Soul Calibur (arcade version)
Starcraft
Oddworld: Abes Oddysee
Legend of Zelda-Ocarina of Time
Colony Wars Vengence
Grim Fandango
Thief
Myth II: Soulblighter
And of course, Pokemon Red/Blue.

That's REAL gamers history there. Try and beat that year!

The more I think about it GTA III is more like GTA IV than the other two installments, especially San Andreas. Strange.
