Whenever I boot up Dota 2, and don't have my mic plugged in, it doesn't work. The game only recognizes my mic when I start it while my mic is plugged in. Can anyone help with this? It's pretty fucking weird.

Well, if your mic isn't plugged in, no wonder it doesn't work.

Perhaps you should do the latter, and plug it in.

@dacnomaniac:

That's not an uncommon way for applications to handle microphones/sound devices. Do you have a setup where you can't just leave you mic plugged in all the time?

not uncommon for windows apps. They typically parse what hardware devices (especially sound devices) are present when the application or game starts and will work with that setup for the duration of the app. Sometimes games will allow you to connect a device after it has launched but it usually depends on the game.

@psylah: Seriously, if someone makes a post asking for help. Making snarky replies doesn't help the situation.
