Alrightey achievement whores, let 'r rip. What have you S-Ranked so I can be jealous?
I've only got one - Orcs Must Die!
Uh...Pac Man Championship Edition DX
I HAD Mass Effect 2 S ranked before all that DLC came out. Since I am running through both games in time for ME3, I will probably get that S rank back.
Just cause 2
The saboteur
I really enjoy open world games so I was really happy when I got these two platinums. I had the burnout Paradise platinum but they added DLC so it doesn't count as an S-rank unfortunately.
I also rented Megamind and truth or lies for the easy S-ranks. Otherwise I don't have too many S-ranks.
Rage and... that's it. There's not much to do in that game, it can literally all be done in one 15 hour playthrough.
I'm pretty close to doing Dead Space and I could get Modern Warfare 2, but those last few Spec Ops missions are FUCKING INSANE.
Skyrim and Oblivion might also get it, but I'm not sure. It would take a lot of hours to get most of those.
Nimbus was the hardest by a good margin, but I just kept diving into the punishment until I finally conquered.
Arkham Asylum was my favorite out of the few I do have, it was damn hard but not impossible and made me get amazing at the game.
I did get all the Riddler Trophies in Arkham City but whenever I beat the last challenge for Batman the damn game crashes and robs me of it. But it's probably for the best because if I actually kept chasing the full S it I'd have to do every, single, one, AGAIN with Robin (who's cool but weak) and Nightwing who's weak, lame, and completely unenjoyable. Damn DLC bullshit.
I thought I S ranked Darksiders but there's two hidden ones. I have no idea why they're hidden, they're just as mundane and lame as the others. It'd be an easy grind for the last ones considering the goddamn slog through hell ranking up all the weapons was, but I don't know if I want that mark on my profile, game doesn't deserve it.
My favorites
Might go get some Half-Life 2 s-ranks. Would love to S-rank Batman: AC as it has Steam and GFWL chieves.
According to the GB page I have 21, but one of those is that doritos game so you can not count that if you want. I would say the one I had the most fun S-ranking was Last Remnant because outside of 1 depressing afternoon-grindy achievement most the rest involved killing super bosses as opposed to most RPGs boring "grind a lot!" achievements. To make that even better the final boss scaled with your stats so even after maxing them he offered a great challenge. A few other favorites go to FF13-2 which was recent but fun, along with Assassin's Creed 2 which I loved getting all the achievements in outside of those fucking feathers.
More than anything I need to go back and finish off a lot of games. There are so many where I am 1 or 2 from being done such as Lost Odyssey where I only need 1 achievement (treasure trove :|), one more for Half-Life 2 (secret areas), and the biggest offender of them all Gears of War 2 where I have the insane achievements for hitting level 100 online but I still need to kill about 70,000 people for seriously 2.0 and then do horde mode on 1 more map... I really want to finish that one up since I already have the hardest achievements. I would be close to 35 S-ranks if I went and finished up some of those I am really close to.
On a last note I wouldn't really consider myself an achievement whore :P. I generally only go for achievements in games I enjoyed playing, the only exception to this being the original Mass Effect where I finished it off because it took 3 damn playthroughs for me to get a level 60 character to import into ME2 and I just happened to get a lot of the other achievements along the way. I also don't buy games simply for S-ranks, no King Kong or Avatar will tarnish my hard work :P
@Stepside:The feathers in Assassin's Creed II only took about 20-30 minutes. The flags in the first one, however (I think there were 200) took far too long. Killing all the Templar knights took even longer, and...well lets just say I've never spent misspent my time so well....
I think that right there alone is why I will never have an S-rank in the original AC even though I enjoyed the game. More than anything it's the big open world outside of the cities that get me, those places were the absolute worst to get through and I never ever want to spend more time in them doing stuff.@Stepside: Killing all the Templar knights took even longer
I almost never buy dlc, so I hope my "s ranks" of some who are now a ranks, will suffice.
Prince of Persia
Bioshock 1 and 2
Bayonetta
Assassins creed 1 and 2
Viking battle for aasgard
Darksiders
Dante's inferno
Mass effect 1 and 2
Dead space 1
Kung fu panda
When it comes to games outside achievements, I guess orcs must die, I usually don't keep a track on my steam games :p
Games I wished i was even close to get a s rank on
Devil may cry 4 and ninja gaiden 2.
I hate the fact that I will never be good enough to beat those games on that difficulty modes ..
A bunch, but most notibly: Modern Warfare 1,2 & 3 and Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Oblivion and Skyrim; basically all Bethesda develloped xbox games. (Spent a BUNCH of money on DLC...)
Lacking consoles is rather limiting for S ranks. But if I did own one, I doubt that I would get many; not so great with a joypad and I take achievements as they come anyway.
I have just 2. Space Pirates and Zombies, from back before they fixed the 'mine layers draw every single enemies attention' bug, and SpaceChem because I freaking love that game and it makes me sad whenever I hear people say they burnt out on the third planet.
I could in theory get Sonic Generations, but I've yet to summon up the effort to get through the last boss without being hit.
@Rockanomics: What are you talking about? What's your beef with War and his horse?
Incidentally, I did use console commands in the PC version of Fallout 3 to get an S-Rank. However, I have played Fallout 3 on the 360 before.
God of War 2 baby!
Also I was really close to S-ranking Saints Row 3 but then they put out that damned DLC that I still haven't got.
Got a rare few, but what's so irritating about the S-rank/completion business is the silly DLC that then comes out for some games. A good example is the FO:New Vegas gun pak that has f-ing achievements attached....booo. That bugged me a bit.
But whatevs, I only really go after them if the game is uber addictive. Too Human and Sacred 2 are examples for me. KoA:Reckoning may be another..though we'll have to see about the inevitable DLC. Completion doesn't define my gaming experience at all, but I get the allure nonetheless. Quite a few good peeps on my FL are super into it.
I had the most fun with Bayonetta. some of the challenge rooms were pretty fun. it all just kind of came together thru a few playthrus and some time messing around with the weapons and item gear. I love how them mixed in unlockable gear and mini-RPG elements into a twitch action game. great game.
I've never actually S ranked a game, because either the games I want to 100% complete frequently don't have them and because for ones that are there's always one achievement hard enough that I don't want to bother (which is why I haven't S ranked Vanquish or Mega Man 10). But this is a brag thread, so I'm gonna brag! Super Mario 3d Land doesn't have achievements, but if it did I would have it so S ranked. Just getting all the Star Coins and unlocking and beating the secret stage wasn't enough for me, oh no... I've gone through and spent countless hours speedrunning every level and there's some shit I'm really proud of in there. Long jumping with Tanooki covers so much ground you can skip entire sections of levels if you do it right, it's crazy. I'm still finding new shit.
I got a heap, major achievement whore here. Total S-Ranks 167 according to GiantBomb.
Proudest would be: Super Meat Boy, N+, Lost Planet, F.E.A.R., Left 4 Dead, Gatling Gears, TMNT 1989 & TiT Reshelled, GripShift, Limbo, Call of Duty Classic & 2 & 3 & MW, Gears 1 & 2.
Ones that show I'm too stupid and into this for my own good: Yaris, Gameroom, Fairytale Fights, Pimp My Ride.
@c0l0nelp0c0rn1: The game is pretty great, but I probably ran back and forth between the room with ~30 little spiders killing them all over and over again about 100 times just to level up my weapons all the way.
Then I found out that you have to fully level up the Chaoseater before you get the Armageddon Blade, which I didn't do because while I was playing the game I kept using the other two to keep them leveled up as I played. Load a week old save andddd back to the spiders...
Then there's the serpent holes, what the fuck is that about? Why do you have to run through them every time? Why can't you ride Ruin in them? Why can't you ride Ruin nearly anywhere!?
I do like the game alot but going after those cheevoes some of the game's shortcomings just start to pound you about the head.
Out of the more than 70 games I own, about 60 have trophy support but I only got 3 S-ranks ._.
I never really cared about trophies until a few weeks ago, but now it has become quite the motivation to dive deeper into some games. My S-ranks are:
Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll
Skyrim
FF13-2
