The new directive from staff on this is...it's not allowed. No bad language in thread titles, please. Other than that it's fine as long as it's not not being used to attack other users.
Until we get the tools to edit topic titles, threads with titles containing profanity will be subject to deletion - so keep it classy like my Obscene Black Ops Emblems Thread, now with over 165,000 views!
Thanks everyone.
On Profanity In Thread Titles
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Man, I was just about to start a thread called "Shit tits fuck cocksucker motherfucker piss and cunt".
There go my plans for the evening.
I don't see why people get upset over words, as in my mind as long as no one physically hits me I won't care, but okay.
" I don't see why people get upset over words, as in my mind as long as no one physically hits me I won't care, but okay. "The point is to keep it appear classy to anyone who is just glancing at the site and make them think nothing is going wrong, hoping they won't crack open the egg and see the profane yolk hidden inside.
" Don't want curse words in titles? Don't allow them to be put there to begin with. "I think it's rather unfair to say that if staff and mods want a rule to be upheld they should do it through force, as opposed to relying on the community to adhere to the rules.

Besides, what if they took that approach to other aspects of the site?
"OK, we don't want people to vandalize the Wiki, so we just won't let anyone contribute to it".
" @Gamer_152: Yeah, but isn't deleting the thread an even greater exertion of force? "Arguably, but I still think it's the right way to go about doing things. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a filter on the thread titles, but in general I believe it's better that mods and staff give users freedom on the site, and punish them and/or clean up the problem if the rules are broken, than it would be for mods to restrict peoples rights and responsibilities, and convey a lack of trust in them, in anticipation that rules may be broken.
I don't care about profanity - it's vagueness I can't stand. Those fuckers try to lure me to their thread, and half the time it's dumb. State your business directly!!!
This, pretty much. The sooner you get the tools to edit topic titles, the less "Is it just me or..." threads we'll get." I don't care about profanity - it's vagueness I can't stand. Those fuckers try to lure me to their thread, and half the time it's dumb. State your business directly!!! "
" Man, I was just about to start a thread called "Shit tits fuck cocksucker motherfucker piss and cunt". There go my plans for the evening. "Yeah. I remember back when we were actually allowed to curse in titles, so I don't think a level-help title called "This Damn Level: (Insert level I'm having trouble with)" would slide either. Ah, them was the good ol' days.

So uh, why is this changing?
Seeing a couple every now and then, but besides that I never noticed anything truly obscene.
" The fact that people are getting pissed off that it is no longer allowed is more indicative of something wrong than the thread titles having swears. But either way, I think it is probably a good move overall. "Agreed!

I second this motion. Also no thread title should be allowed to start with the word 'so'.
By the Queen's Blood both of you are banned." @DragonBloodthirsty said:
" What if it's a curse word, but it's so obscure nobody even knows to be offended? "You jackanape. "
In all seriousness it depends on the context. If you are using any type of profane words to insult or flame then your topic will be moderated.

What a stupid rule. I get why they do it, but unless you enforce a ban on swearing across the board this shit is fucking dumb...
" @CH3BURASHKA said:Seriously, if there is one thing that should be more subject to deletion than obscene thread titles, it should be vague ones. They serve little point but to attempt to trick people into checking it out, and gain more views with arbitrary curiosity than with a direct label of a potentially interesting subject matter. This, pretty much.
