So, to cut a long story short I've had a horrible time trying to order a system from Overclockers.co.uk - basically, do not at any costs use them. Their customer service lines are expensive, they do not properly test stuff they say they have "Fixed" and will claim you are not entitled to a refund for faulty goods, even when under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 you are.
So, after that nightmare (I almost have my money back...) I need help finding another (UK) website where I can get a decent desktop. I thought I had found a good one with Aria Technology (aria.co.uk) - however after seeing their support line is 60p a minute (disgraceful) and seeing that they have 50% 1 star ratings on Dooyoo and other online website review companies, I have been put off.
Can anyone help me find an actual reputable online retailer of PC goods? Because apparently all of them are bastard pirates only interested in getting your money and palming off faulty goods, then claiming they have no idea about it.
PS: Rough specs I'm looking at:
i7 950 @ 4.00 GHz
6gb DDR3
GTX 480
500Gb - 1 TB HDD
Overclockers UK
Wow, man. You should mail them a dead ferret.
Use Newegg.com. I've never really used them, personally, but all my friends who built their computers got most their stuff from there.
I've never had problems with Overclockers, but I've heard stories of other people having problems.
I tend to order parts from dabs, ebuyer and scan. While Ebuyer is cheap, they use parcelforce, so whether or not you'll actually get your goods after ordering is up in the air, even after they knock on your door (I've had them knock and immediately leave before).
To all above thanks for the great help, I'll be checking out Scan (as it seemed to get a few mentions) and I'll consider making an account over at AVforums. Thanks there alternate. Might as well have a look at ebuyer and dabs too.
EDIT: Oh also, anyone here used Aria before? Any personal experiences you could share would be gratefully recieved :)
I've used Overclockers for pretty much everything PC accessory related, and I've yet to encounter a problem. It's a shame this bitter experience has repelled you from (in my eyes,) a very good website.
Try www.pcspecialist.co.uk. They seem to have a great variety and at good prices. I haven't bought a PC from there yet, but the majority of customer feedback that i've read about that site seems to be positive. The focus isn't so much on overclocking as it is on good value for money.
