I'mma put $100 into this after PAX, me thinks. Maybe by then they'll have more concrete stuff? Not sure if they've really started much work on it or not, but I need to pitch in on at least one Kickstarter that looks cool before the whole house burns down.
I'd watched this without reading who was developing it, and for the first half of the video I was just thinking, "What a blatant SupCom ripoff," -- then they zoomed into space and shit got real. I don't love the art style, but I do love the concept. I'd gladly pay for it, even if it were just Supcom in Spaaaaaace! -- but I have faith they'll deliver more than that.
I have ensured that this thread has been thoroughly sherlock holmes'd, and while I have concluded that it was not posted by a spambot, it is nonetheless spam.
Fun fact: the guy who does the narration also voices the Sniper in TF2 (as well as a handfull of Dota 2 heroes).

I also love SMNC and its design so I'm in. It does seem like almost every PC dev has done a Kickstarter now, but wow they are at 50% within something like 24 hours.
I'm starting to dislike kickstarter and how misused it's gotten. Looks cool though.
Feeling the same way. That being said, Monday Night Combat was an amazingly fun game and I really like Uber so I support this. One of the guys on the dev team had a decent presence on the Shacknews forums and would answer questions and talk to us about stuff so that was cool.

This is a creative project that the chances of it coming to light under traditional circumstances is slim to none. Or gets changed so vast from the original idea the creativity is lost.
This video underneath was done before the major Kick-starter explosion. It mostly talks about music, however its perfectly applicable to the games industry. Aswell as the Co-founder directly says "Kick starters going to become Mainstream in a year or two" "This is going to be one of the ways you get things done. If not the BEST way to get things done."
This is not against the heart of Kickstarter. Kickstarter is the same as it was its just bigger.
Is that against the heart of Kickstarter? People want it, people are willing to pay money for it. They know whats involved. Kickstarter provides the means.
I don't like MNC or any of its variants, and thus don't have the greatest opinion of Uber, but I have a permanent boner for anything related to Total Annihilation. I dunno how I feel about this, honestly

Super MNC left me a little bit sour about all things Uber. This looks cool, definitely, but I think I don't think I can back this and feel confident...
Good luck to 'em though. 2/3 on the way to making their goal and it would kinda suck to get so close and not hit the target.

New? He's been in everything for a long time. Nolan North is the new him, if anything.
I'm willing to throw a little money at anyone making original RTS games.
So yeh this looks sweet, nice reminder of what could be happening if money and talent were still being thrown at RTS games like they once were. Projects like this are why kickstarter is fucking awesome.

Awesome and congratulations on getting funded! I really hope you guys make the stretch goal for Naval units, Supreme Commander has some of my favourite marine units in any RTS, especially those Cybran destroyers that can walk on land.
@dox: Best of luck with this! I understand it's in the very very early stages but what would be the estimated rough guess release window for this game?
I wouldn't say "ever," but it definitely looks like a lot of fun. Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander were great games. This game looks to improve on those.
@SSully: it looks terrible. do you need different eyes to see? the art style sucks
Enjoyment of an art style is subjective. To my eyes it looks good, so yes, I guess I need your eyes to see why it sucks. Which is why I asked you to elaborate as to why it is bad, and what exactly you think it should look like, but I guess that is to much for you.
