My backlog is so horrible that I'm not even going to include Steam games, otherwise I'd become depressed at the idea of money I've spent

My Backloggery contains 91 unfinished games. And I cheated a little bit by not including all my steam games and marking some sports type games and duplicate copies of games as null, which means they don't count as unfinished.

I'm probably going to play all the way through Binary Domain. I just started it tonight, and it was pretty fun. After that, the most shameful games of my heap are probably:

Oh. And also I'm thinking I'm going tot take it easy during the upcoming holiday Steam sale. I'll only buy one or two cheapies max, perhaps To the Moon, or Hotline Miami.

I'm finishing stuff so thats cool. I just beat Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations this week. What a class act. I felt like I owned the game for 4 years without playing it. I bear FF9 and FFXI this year too, also I finished Dark Cloud that i bought on a whim, surprised how quick i did that. I'm going to attempt to finish every DS game I own. I really want to get more like Pokemon and Bowsers inside story.

I'm currently working through Hitman: Absolution, Far Cry 3, Mark of the Ninja, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Assassin's Creed III, Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs.

I'm on mission 12 in Hitman, 3 hours into Far Cry, mission 3 in ninja, 5 hours into XCOM, sequence 8 in AC 3, 16 hours into Darksider 2, and about 4 hours into Sleeping Dogs

None. I always play my games thoroughly. The few I don't, I don't care about at all, and I'll likely never touch 'em again.

In the ways of back-catalogue, just a whole lot of games I'd buy, if I'd find the time to play them. Other than that, I've got a shrink wrapped copy of God of War 3 sitting next to me, which I've bought 2 weeks ago, on a whim. There's still too much meat on Guild Wars 2, Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed Most Wanted, to really move on. Oh well, God of War 3 is the next thing I'm gonna play either way.

So there you have it. Play your games thoroughly. Don't buy and buy and buy. You ain't got enough lifetime to play 'em all anyways, and there's always something to look forward to - that's just something you've got to get over, or your death bed will be a desperate and frustrating experience.

I have a tip for people who have backlog lists. I recently rearranged mine from one long list in order of about when I bought them to blocks of games I bought during a given month and arranged those blocks in order. Either way, a good way to prioritize if you literally have no way to begin is to start with the ones you bought the earliest and work forward from there. The month/block arrangement allows one a little more wiggle-room to just say they're in the mood for something but force them to play through the month's games before moving on.

Luckily all the games I bought were more or less from Amazon and Steam which keeps track of that information. Also, alternate games you have that you want to play with a controller and a keyboard/mouse if you want another arbitrary way to order them. At the very least I color the text one or another to just visually represent what I know to use when I start playing.

I thought mine was going to be big until I got in here. I only bought a PS3 late last year and over the past year have bought up just about every game I want to play, now I just need more spare time.

I just finished Eternal Sonata and was less than impressed. It took me forever because I just couldn't be bothered to play it that often. So no RPGs next. I'm currently wasting time on Burnout Paradise, but racing games - even one as good as this - fail to keep my attention for great lengths of time.

Ugh. I was afraid of that. I figured maybe there were some sort of cut-off points or parameters. :)

I also haven't finished Walking Dead but it is next on my to-do list. 

I've been using www.howlongtobeat.com to prioritize the shortest games in my backlog. It's over 150 games, so I'm not listing them.

Yes I should. I tend to prioritize by how much I spent on a game, though, and Bayonetta only cost me 10 bucks.

I may be in the same boat as Jeff about Western games. I played it for about an hour before deciding I didn't want to keep going, and haven't gone back to it. I intend to give it another shot, but with GTA V coming out relatively soon I don't know when that will happen.

I put some time into Dungeons of Dredmor, but have never made it past the second floor. I'm not sure if it's because I spend too much or too little time on the first.

I notice that multiplayer campaign games have a higher chance of getting done since someone will play more consistently with me. Borderlands 2 for example.

@Video_Game_King: From my experience, the answer to that question is probably too much time if you don't intend on actually beating the game and are just trying to get yourself into as much trouble as possible as fast as possible, or too little if you're trying to actually do well in the game. Then again, I've only ever made it to the 3rd floor, myself, so I'm no expert.

Golemancy, Blood Mage, and Promethean Magic are must haves if you actually want to succeed.

On topic, isn't a backlog a list of games you've played but haven't finished? Games you own but haven't played go in the Pile 'O Shame.

Skyward Sword - Either in the last or second to last dungeon, to clarify which one without trying to be spoiler-y. The dungeon that's right there the whole time. 
XCOM - I'm certainly in the endgame, probably only need to play a little more to beat it. 
Sonic Colors, Monster Hunter Tri, Epic Mickey, and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn - Have had them all for ages, haven't played any of them, any of them worth it? The reason I haven't played Dark Dawn is because I wanted to beat the first Golden Sun before I played it, is that necessary? 
P4 Arena's Story - Read through the MC's story, didn't continue after that. 
Black 2 - 4th gym I think. 
That's about all I really want to go through at this point.
