Sorry for the dumb question, but is there a podcast app out there that will allow me to download the premium podcasts (danswers, power bombcast, etc.)? This would be mighty convenient. All I use or have ever used is the iOS podcast app.

I should mention I am a premium subscriber...not trying to mooch :0)

try adding the podcasts to your app using the following format:
https://username:password@www.giantbomb.com/podcast-xml/premiumbombcast/

edit: to clarify, the app that i use doesn't explicitly support podcasts that require a username and password, but i was able to subscribe to the premium podcasts using this format, maybe the same will work for you with your current app.

If you use iTunes on PC (might work on OS X, but I have no idea)

Go to the webpage for the feed you want

Right click on the RSS button and copy link

In iTunes go to file>subscribe to podcast

A box pops up; past the link in there hit ok

It'll ask for you username and pw

Now make sure the podcast app syncs (settings>podcast)

Thanks for the feedback friends. I tried the iTunes route, but for some reason the subscription worked on the laptop, but the app would not sync up. Had another friend recommend rss radio and that seems to have worked, but we shall see. At any rate the rss link was the key so thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Yeah, I just used the RSS Link off my Safari browser on my iPhone in order to add premium podcasts to Apple's native podcast app. I've heard good things about some third-party apps but I haven't really felt a need to look into them since the default one has worked fine for me thus far.

I use Overcast for iOS. It's a pretty good app.

Switched last week from Apple Podcast to Overcast, because of the good reviews.

It was definitely worth it.
