So should we start downloading and archiving videos??
Preserving the site
So, (I think it was) after the Nextlander folks left a group of fairly dedicated GB users started archiving things just in case so if the site went offline or shut down suddenly nothing would be lost. All of the site's videos are already archived off the site in at least one or two places online (and I know of a user who also has the entire thing backed up locally as well. I'm sure others do too) and I think I saw mention that written stuff was archived as well.
There's also at least a few Youtube channels floating around uploading archives of various GB series. Since Rorie left, nobody has kept tabs on that stuff on Youtube so over the last year and change lots of older GB stuff has been uploaded there in case the site shut down since others have been worried about this for a while as well.
So if you want to download your favourite videos, feel free, but you don't need to worry about losing the videos should the site go away. They're definitely safe and there are people working to make sure they continue to be available in the future. If you check out any of the GB community stuff off the site (the Reddit. The Discord) you should be able to get some more info if you'd like.
@ben_h: Thanks. That's makes you feel better. The site and its videos have helped through some hard times. Most recently, cancer. I'll always be grateful for the GB team and the work they've done.

It'd be amazing if brighter minds in the community found a way to preserve stories like these for the GB crew as well, sort of as a massive repository of thank yous for the people who have been with many of us for huge portions of our lives. I have NO idea how to do something like that, but these folks have helped many of us with their life's work and I'm all for paying it back in some way.
Save what you want locally. I've downloaded every single Bombcast and Beastcast (all ad free versions, find RSS feeds for them online) locally. Have saved my favorite GiantBomb videos locally as well.
Do not rely on Internet Archive or whatever for this stuff to always be there on the internet, it won't be there forever (sites go down, there's bugs, security issues, etc)
