1. Add the following to your ad-blocking software of choice: http://media.giantbomb.com/media/vine/img/generic/star-*.png
2. Now, with that distraction out of the way, actually read the review.
3a. If you're looking to purchase the game, use the content of the review plus any other sources you can get your hands on (podcasts, quick looks, reviews on other sites) to make an informed decision.
3b. If you've already played the game and disagree with the review, great! You might not realize it, but GiantBomb gives you the ability to write your own reviews. If it's good enough it might even be featured on the front page! If you can't manage a coherent argument for your case, then you'll just have to get back to playing (or not playing) and accept the fact that entertainment is subjective.
PSA: Instead of complaining about scores, do this.
" @SquirrelGOD said:I am validating SquirrelGOD and Andrela's lives." But, my life is not validated unless people on the internet agree with my every opinion! "this "
You have very very high thoughts about this community, don't you? :P
" 1. Add the following to your ad-blocking software of choice: http://media.giantbomb.com/media/vine/img/generic/star-*.pngOkay, so now that we agree the five-star rating system is pointless...
2. Now, with that distraction out of the way, actually read the review."
Wait, you're suggesting that I do something intelligent while I'm on the internet looking at reviews? Eff that noise! This game is a six point fifty-four game and therefore not as good as this game that got π out of 8 in a different genre five years ago! Also, these numbers dictate my opinion on all games period!
Agreed, also bare in mind Giantbomb has been very open about the fact that they look at their reviews more as their personal experience so the rating is more of a baseline with definitions not a typical rating.
None the less, i agree, people need to stop expecting everyone to agree- opinions will vary =P
