Hi guys, recently I have noticed a trend that profanity in thread titles is becoming more and more common. As many of you know, this is against the rules as detailed in the Giant Bomb FAQ, which is stickied to the top of the forums. Please do not use any curse words or bad language in the topic title. Cursing is allowed in posts themselves (within reason, anyway), but including it in the thread title will lead to the topic being deleted.
If you see anyone breaking this rule, any of our other rules or if you just have questions or concerns about the site, please shoot us a PM, using the "PM Mods" link which is near the top of the GB FAQ. This will allow you to send a PM to all of the moderators, meaning we can deal with it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Thanks guys.
Reminder: Do not swear in thread titles.

" It's kinda sad that the FAQ thread only has around 2,000 views. More users need to read it. "To fucking right they should!
But seriously I'm surprised so few people have read it. Maybe they should make it mandatory upon sign up to read it. Although you could never be sure if people actually did read it, unless you tested them on it and that is getting into some strange territory :/
" This only concerns titles, right? Not forum posts? "@MattyFTM said:

Sums it up alright." @Azteck said:

By the way: FUCK CENSORSHIP!
" This only concerns titles, right? Not forum posts? "Yes, this only concerns thread titles. You can swear in posts, but just make sure you don't go overboard with it,
Does Hell count as a swear? What if I'm talking about Hell? You can't talk about Hell without saying Hell. [Simpsons reference]
Actually I'm pretty sure it's because of pressure from advertisers. This is honestly the only explanation I can think of and I really hope I'm wrong.
" Why do people care. Just accept it and follow it. It's not as if not swearing will affect us in anyway. "Some people like to understand why things are the way they are, rather than bending over and taking it?
Not that not swearing in titles is "bending over and taking it" but it seems reasonable to me that people would want to understand why a rule is the way it is..
Bart: So, any idea where this bastard lives?" Does Hell count as a swear? What if I'm talking about Hell? You can't talk about Hell without saying Hell. [Simpsons reference] "
Homer: Bart!
Bart: His parents aren't married, are they? It's the correct word, isn't it?
Homer: I guess he's got us there.

Is it, really? Many forums copy paste a standard rule-sheet, so it's really not something people thrive after when they've been through a couple.
Really not that serious as long as one follows the mighty invisible book of common sense.
I'm going to need a list of all known swears in the most common 20 languages, printed and in triplicate on my desk by tomorrow morning. Otherwise I cannot help you.
It's a simple rule and it won't cause harm to anyone. I'm all for it and I don't care for the rationale behind this.
" It's kinda sad that the FAQ thread only has around 2,000 views. More users need to read it. "I bet if it would get tons of views if it was part of some quest.
" I'm going to need a list of all known swears in the most common 20 languages, printed and in triplicate on my desk by tomorrow morning. Otherwise I cannot help you. "u can wiki that shit up. u know that the word "nig" is a racial slur?
@the_OFFICIAL_jAPanese_teaBAG: Why should I have to put the work in to figure out what they consider to be in a specific category on a largely arbitrary and debatable topic?
shouldn't you be more concerned with context and not content? "i fucking love this" is perfectly acceptable in my eyes but "i fucking hate *insert ethnicity here*" would not be cool.
" What is considered profanity? Would saying damn, or hell be considered profanity when used in the thread title? "Obviously not...but I'm sure you're intelligent enough to come up with more creative words to express yourself in your thread titles.

"No, the rule is in place to simplify things for everyone. It's easy to understand and even easier to follow, no grey area on this one.
What if I have tourettes? I can't help it that I randomly curse BALL HAIR!! so if I get a doctor's statement SHIT LICKER!! can I use profanity in the titles?
" Bart: So, any idea where this bastard lives?*sings* Bastard bastard, bastard bastard, bastard bastard, bastardbastardbastard!
