Rob Florence let go at Eurogamer for criticizing games journalism

TL:DR

Rob writes, hey maybe journalists should act like journalists. Game blogger Lauren Wainwright, originally singled out in the Eurogamer peice — since edited away, threatens libel, UK style. Eurogamer issues apology, edits article, curls up in ball in fear. Rob coincidentally leaves Eurogamer, certainly under no pressure at all.

Hooray Journalism!

Game magazines will never be journalism because of this, he wrote a piece, someone got offended so they took said piece off. Just leave it up FFS.

He stepped down I believe, which is different, but the whole thing still stinks.

maybe he's set up his own website and that will become really popular, even more popular than eurogamer. then eurogamer will buy that website and they'll be friends again.

Now is the opportunity for him to form Eurobomb.

Really though, that's a damn shame.

I'm pretty sure Jeff "officially" stepped down once upon a time.

The only "voluntary stepping down" he did was to pick his boxes of shit off the sidewalk.

He is right about people like this woman only doing this for the free stuff. Would of made a great story.

Does all this really surprises anyone? We all know journalists receive incentives by publishers. Nothing new. We all remember why this website started.
