The best thing about the Kang Zone is that the stream has been pretty rock solid on around 3700 viewers.
SaltyBet's Dream Cast Casino Thread
This Kang fight came at the right time, because I have been getting WAY too deep into Salty Bet the past couple of days. I really needed to step back a bit. It was becoming frightening.
I can't help but pity Salty, he has to be available for 24/7 Customer Service support or this happens o.O
@shinmaru007: 3500 viewers after 2 hours
So I just signed up for salty today and proceeded to lose everything in about 30 minutes, and now I have to wait till it gets fixed. WHY SALTY WHY

So you're the straw that broke the Camel's site!
Somebody fix it ; ;
@notdavid: This is just like the Last of Us!
So what are the odds that Salty got a cease and desist?
Probably none considering Twitch cops haven't done anything and the stream itself is still going.

The stream might be fine, but the Illuminati set up on the betting side might have been construed as real money gambling or currency conversion. That's something that I've wondering about. You're paying real money for more fake money to gamble, but it's infinite more fake money.

The wording makes it pretty clear that you're giving money to support servers and such, and as a bonus you happen to get your SaltyBucks minimum upped. I also know absolutely nothing about Internet Gambling laws, so do with this what you will.

Even if Salty claims he isn't profiting from the Illuminati money and that it's just to cover operating costs (of the server and whatever else), he's still not an official charity or anything, so it still looks like "Here is a guy who is taking in money where the main attraction is copyrighted characters (which are not a parody)".
M.U.G.E.N. is fine because it's freeware and doesn't force you to use copyrighted characters, but once you create a website that takes money and whose main attraction is a bunch of copyrighted characters, I really wonder if it crosses some line.

How does that differ from say, GiantBomb? They put out content every week that has copyrighted characters. Shoot, there is a premium stream going on right now that requires you to have paid in order to see the copyrighted content.

Well luckily for all us SaltyBetters, "gambling" does not include:
"participation in any game or contest in which participants do not stake or risk anything of value other than—
—points or credits that the sponsor of the game or contest provides to participants free of charge and that can be used or redeemed only for participation in games or contests offered by the sponsor;"

Considering the Salty Bet twitter account tweeted the site is just down for maintenance I wouldn't get too deep into conspiracy theories. Anyway I'm still refreshing the page every motherfucking ten minutes.
I'm not into conspiracy theories, I'm just curious how this operation shakes down from a legal stand point.

Giant Bomb is putting original commentary/critique on top of the games they're showing. SaltyBet isn't really doing the same thing, though maybe "novelty fake betting set" is somehow considered an original twist on "streaming copyrighted characters and accepting money".
Still, Giant Bomb takes a lot of effort from multiple staff members giving their journalist/reviewer opinions, whereas as Salty Bet is basically a turnkey operation that runs itself as long as the servers don't totally collapse from too many users. I could see why the law would be more forgiving to the former than the latter.
Giant Bomb probably will never get CnD'd because of CBS protection (also Games Journalism is super legit); Saltybet is still small at the moment so they could randomly get beaned any time; unlikely if it stays below like 10k viewers and unlikely if it goes over 100k.
On Twitter he says that it is down for maintenance. If you really need your fix, you can go to http://www.twitch.tv/saltybet to watch the stream, albeit without the betting.

Every time there's maintenance it just gets worse afterward
So it doesn't calculate odds now until well after the match has started? Are the servers getting slammed that hard?
@bisonhero: Dunno but it all started the first time he switched servers, then it got slower, now it's slower still and has various betting issues. I could see it having trouble on the few matches where there was a large uptick in traffic quickly but it should have smoothed out by now.
@fredchuckdave: Yeah, the part where it doesn't update my balance after I win or lose is certainly less than helpful.
@bisonhero: You just have to refresh... constantly.
New Odds record I believe, 9.1 million on Alter Amiba to 14000 opposed
Lots of upsets tonight. Was at the minimum earlier tonight; now I'm at $1872, the most I've ever had (I'm not that knowledgeable and make stupid bets all the time 'cause why the fuck not, carefulness and discretion is for real life).
@yummytreesap: Still down for me. After clearing and trying to access it with a computer that has never been to it.
tracert shows it dies right after leaving a Comcast server.
Hmm this isn't nearly as addictive with it running so slow and fucked up.
Would've been really neat if they were able to keep momentum and fix all the roster issues; but the main guy submitting new characters is a dumbass so not much chance of that happening and continued maintenance not going to help either. Oh well.
@fredchuckdave: I am losing my interest in SaltyBet very quickly. I really hope he is vigorously working on solutions otherwise his 15 minutes may end up becoming 5.

Hey look, the saltybet site has a new logo. So there's that.
--------------
I really hope that someone more competent "borrows" the idea if Salty can't get his shit together. Saltybet Dream Cast Casino is a great premise and deserves better execution and management.
I am fucking terrible at this. I choose the wrong character almost every fucking time. I don't think there's any hope for me getting out of the salt mines...
