Should Gambling Games Be Included as Video Games?

Do any of you play slots, keno, or video poker? I like the slot game Black Rhino, but it's not listed in the video game database. Do you think slot machine, keno, and video poker games should be listed in the video game database? I do.

That is a difficult and interesting question. Especially considering the lineage of alot of modern gambling games. My understanding is that the majority of arcade manufacturers moved to the gambling scene after arcades started to die out. I think they are doing quite well for themselves. I personally wouldn't mind, as long as they wouldn't get in the way of efficient and helpful search results for stuff I was looking for on the GB wiki.

If it's a piece of software that you play on a console, handheld, or computer for entertainment, it sounds like a video game to me.

Technically yes, it might be hard to track individual types of machines though.

I mean, there are even (analogue) pinball games in the GB database...

No. They are not video games. They are gambling machines. They are a wholly seperated category of entertainment and are not to be confused with the video game business. And that's despite the fact that some game developers make profits from the industry.
