Should Giant Bomb have a Battles forum?

I believe that Giant Bomb would benefit from receiving a Battles forum. If you don't know what that is, you can check at our sister site Anime Vice and have a lookie and their Battle forum page. It's got a shit load of topics and tons of responses. It's a pretty lively place for debate and I have faith (just a little) that the inner fanboy in ourselves won't run too rampant and give some interesting balanced thoughts on who would win a battle. But it still allows us to nerd out about every hidden ability our characters can dish out.

Just think of the possibilities...

Solid Snake vs. Sam Fisher
Lara Croft vs. Jill Valentine
Snake Eyes vs. Raiden
Nazis vs. The Helghast
Gordon Freeman vs. Doomguy
Chie Satunaka vs. Samus Aran
Shaq vs. The GZA

It would be most epic for Giant Bomb to have a Battle forum because of the mass number of characters we have logged into the system. The outcome could be... unimaginable.

They should have a forum where all the fanboys can post so they don't interfere with civilized gaming discussion. I think it's a good idea, though. The GZA would own Shaq. = )

Concerning Chie Satunaka vs. Samus Aran, would they face of in the TV world? If not samus would win.

A rap battle forum would be nice. I wouldn't mind a place to spit my mind in form of rhyme.

It could turn into spam easily though...

Yes they should, but only if once you post in it you get locked out of the normal forums.

They have the same thing over at Comic Vine as well.  They discussed implementing this features onto Giant Bomb, but nothing related has come up since then.  Hopefully they still have plans to do so.

I think they have mentioned it before but, not sure if they are going to add it.  They could if they wanted to.

I dont think it's worth it. I mean, what does the battles feature really add? A bunch of character fans who feel personally attacked when someone says their favorite character sucks. I say no thanks. Besides, most of the people who vote in those things have only heard of one character participating, so what's the point?

I don't like this idea. And I don't think that the worst problem would be the fanboy war. It's just that, in itself, it's a pretty stupid thing. I already hate those topics that are little games, and this is just that in a different form. And, like you said, it may have a lot of answers in other sites, like Anime Vice. But have you checked them? It's terriblem, nonsense and not fun or funny at all.

GB foruns are already starting to look way too much like any other forum on the internet. Implementing something like this would be like taking another stab at a dying victim.

I hated battle threads on cv. Sometimes you'd have interesting arguments. But then you'd get a ton of 1 liners with no explanation.

As long as they don't show up in the general forum, then that'd be fine by me.

There is enough Battles forums on the internet, I don't think Giant Bomb really needs one. Unless they can come up with some interesting mechanic or idea, but I have no idea what that would be.

i want something like that except it be system wars. it would be great fun like what i had when i use to be on gamespot.com. it was a great forums that i would read fanboys post on why 360 was better the ps3.

The thing I like about GB, GB doesn't do that BS,  
No top ten lists, No "Best" character of all time, just good stuff that these dudes do, and opinions I trust, I may not agree with them but I do give them the time to say what they say.

It could be fun, I enjoyed the recent Dante vs. Kratos thread.  It would have to be moderated heavily for trolls though probably.

This is an 8 month old thread.  We've avoided this loathsome idea for 8 months and hopefully Giant Bomb will continue to relegate this perilous scheme to sister sites Comic Vine and Anime Vice.   And maybe Tested.  Who wants Intel vs AMD, Nvidia vs AVI, Firefox vs Chrome...oh, wait they already have that stuff their.

As long as posts to the battle forum stay off the main forum page, I'm all for it.
