It's Friday. Usually a time of celebration for those of us lucky enough to have a standard work week. Except, on those rare occasions we're cursed with a weekend sickness. Almost just in time to prevent me from enjoying the next couple days of rest, I've come down with a fever. And judging by the increase in temperature every time I check it, it's not going away tonight.

So, duders. Instead of laying about and feeling sorry for myself while sick (which is only different from a typical weekend because of the sick part), somebody give me a suggestion of some laid back, preferably quiet, easy, and not super flashy games to attempt to enjoy myself with (something available digitally would be nice). Or is this a lost cause that's destined to damn whatever games I play into a world of association and vomiting in the future? I still can't eat KFC since getting sick after eating it about six years ago (unknown if it was even related).

I played Final Fantasy XII on a shitload of cough drops, once, and somehow blended it with an episode of Camp Lazlo. I can't recommend that for everybody.

Maybe something slow moving like a strategy game. Xcom Eu, The banner saga, or Fire emblem might do you well.

Steamworld Dig is pretty laid back if you own a 3DS. It's generally pretty easy, and there's not much in the way of sound design except for your footsteps and pick axe. Decent music too.

It's on PC (steam) also.

I'm sick, too. I can't play games when I'm sick, though.

Feel better though.

Good luck with that. Whenever I got a fever, I would try playing something simple and a few minutes later, I would just go back to bed.

I can muster listening to a podcast (non-Bombcast) or an archived video of something like Patrick's Spleunky runs. Stuff I can listen to in bed that I don't mind sleeping through if it comes to that.

Sounds like something I might've done a couple of years ago, haha.

Hmm, The Stanley Parable could be a good choice if you haven't played it yet. Maybe Little Inferno?

@amyggen: Sounds like you have it worse. I have yet to puke, and I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad. We'll see. Get well soon!

@wjb: I think you might have the right idea. I'll probably just load up QLCrew and let old videos spin until I can stand to be functional again.

@viciousbearmauling: Funny you should mention Ni no Kuni, I've actually been playing through it over the past week. I would probably continue that, but I think I should probably stay in bed (tv is in the other room). And I've been enjoying that quite a bit, so I don't want to risk ruining it for myself or miss anything.

@weegieanawrench: @themanwithnoplan: I do have a 3DS and both Fire Emblem and Steamworld Dig (neither of which I've played much of). Good ideas. And being able to flip the 3DS closed would be perfect for when I suddenly need a nap.

I didn't read anything you said, I saw 'sick' games and immediately thought of this. Man, I really liked this game back in the day. Some could say it was the Bullet Storm of it's time, some could say.

I just played Brothers a couple nights ago, so that is my suggestion. I haven't played much of it at all, but another choice would be Proteus. Can't get much more simple/laid back than that.

Maybe Little Inferno?

That's a good suggestion. I just played it not too long ago, too.

It had great aspects and awful aspects. It was interesting though.

I'm really sick too. I've been doing the new game plus on dark souls. That is my recommendation for what not to do.

I don't know how much it will help you but I had a mad-terrible cold last year and I played through Sleeping Dogs, made me all warm and fuzzy. Great game, cheered me up big time.

Anything adventure or turn based is good. Ideally something that does not require your full attention and does not punish you if you have to leave the controls to cough or vomit or whatever your illness is doing to you at the time.

Either Souls game is the opposite of that. No pausing. High death consequence. Requires some degree of reaction speed. :p

What better time to tackle a possible backlog of games?!

If you're lucky enough not to have one try Rust or Castle Doctrine. Their recent, both on Steam, and relatively cheap and could provide hours of game time if they're your type of game. They both can be taken at a slower pace and mostly move along at your ability to learn the concepts and provide an easy exit every few minutes if you feel the need to quit.

I've also found some older games, SNES era, usually have low time commitments and can be fun to revisit.
