I'll finally be picking up Skyrim soon and wanted to get some opinions on what are the best mods to get for it and why. Let me know what you think(links appreciated).
Skyrim Mods
Posh Mudcrabs.
Once you've got that out of the way, grab whatever the most popular graphics mod collection is, it'll save you a lot of time and they make things look great (the collections are really good in general, with a top rated graphics and a top rated gameplay collection, you're going to have the cream of the mod crops).
There's a few good skill overhaul mods out there, I can't remember which one I use, but it rebalances 1h, 2h and archery, and I'm pretty happy with it.
It's sort of a cheat, but grab a carrying weight mod. Having to run back to town to sell all the time adds nothing to the game as I see it, so it's more a quality of life mod than anything else.
After that, it's all taste really. I'd just cruise through the 5-star mods and cherry pick what looks cool. Unlike Oblivion, most mods play nice together so you don't have to worry too much about compatability.
I haven't played Skyrim on PC but when I do, the first thing I will get is SkyUI. It looks a million times better than the pretty but shitty default one.
In addition to that, I'd find something to give shop owners a whole lot more gold. There aren't even many with 1000, and that makes it troublesome to sell off all the unnecessary crap you might have gathered in your travels.
If you like your nights dark, then "Realistic lighting without post processing" (or something along those lines) is pretty cool. It's real hard to see in dungeons though so bring a torch.

I got all of these mod on the Steam Workshop since I'm too lazy to get it from the other place. Nexus was it?
1) Visit http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/ Then create an account
2) Account needed to install http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/modmanager/ This sexy manager downloads and installs mods for you. Which is why you need an account.
3) IMPORTANThttp://skse.silverlock.org/ (How to install http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWn2RoPgpOA
Enjoy!
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INSTALLING MODS TO BE SURE YOUR MODS WON'T CONFLICT WITH EACH OTHER! CONFLICTED MODS WILL CAUSE YOUR GAME TO FREEZE/CRASH AND OTHER SHIT I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND
ApachiiSkyHair - Better hair offerings for men and women.
Categorized Favorites Menu - a much more useful favorites menu for the PC version
Cooking Recipe Pack - Makes cooking useful. Adds new recipes with better effects.
Unread Books Glow - multiple intensities of luminescence to pick from. Avoid re-reading the same books over and over.
Flora Overhaul is nice too
SkyUI as mentioned above
Static Mesh Imprevement
Would probably be easier to just open up the NMM and tell you what I have installed but the list is long.

Is SkyUI still a lot better if you use gamepad to play?
It definitely looks like it would be, if it's adapted correctly. Here. Also here.
I had a weird issue when I was shopping for things where it just didn't wanted me to go to the part of the UI where I could sell stuff (using a controller)@believer258 said:

But it seems like a restart of the game was all that needed. Other than that there's no issues with using a controller. It's also easier to sit back and actually be relaxed when playing a game when using a controller.
The lightsaber mod! It's actually called the Magicka Saber mod on Nexus. You can construct pretty much all the lightsabers from the films, really good replicas of Vader's, Maul's, Luke's, down the line. It's pretty awesome. You have to have the Daedric smithing perk first to make them at a blacksmith forge, so you're going to have to do some leveling before you can use it.
