Yep you heard me right. He got it right in the face. I spent 2 hours in the bathtub with him with tomato sauce shampoo and about 10 towels and he still smells horrid! Not really looking for advice, I've resigned myself to wait it out. He seems like he hasn't sustained any long term injuries from it so I guess my house will just smell like skunk for the next two weeks or so! I should never have moved. :(

That sounds horrible. How did your dog react after it happened?

All hope is lost. I think you better put your dog down and bury him in the garden.

@SSully: he went crazy trying to rub all over everything so I had to put him outside and he rubbed the grass for a while. His nose was bleeding a bit but that's stopped now. I don't know he was really scared at first and then sad.

I assume you are a vet?
If not, you can figure what I was going to say next.

How would you know how your dog feels?  Take it to a dog shrink?

well, do you have a dog? I think most people who have a dog understand how their dog's feeling

Yeah, of course, it's so much fun to clean them off.  It's what I do for kicks.

Wait... you're saying that someone farted in your dog's face and he's in coma (or half-comasih state)?

The funniest thing I've ever heard. :|)

@VisariLoyalist:
Happened to my dog years ago, and what does he do? The little shit runs in the house yelping, runs straight to my room before we really have processed what's going on, jumps on my bed, and rolls all over it to try and get the smell off. ARGGG the smell lingered in my room for months.

Skunks are super prevalent in my area and as far as I know, waiting it out is about all you can do. Sucks for you and your dog, man! Hope it goes away soon!

That's weird, this happened to my dog as well. We just had to wait it out until he stopped smelling. He went out into the dark back yard, I heard some barking, and he came running back to me sneezing and shaking his head, and then the smell hit me.

To get rid of the smell use 1 quart of peroxide, 1 tsp of dish soap, and 1 cup of baking soda. Sponge it onto the dog rinse and repeat.
At least thats what our family vet recommends.

Time to put your dog down.
