...and he's coming to San Francisco. Let the rumors begin!

Seriously though, i started watching Game Informer's video content when Dan Ryckert came to Giant Bomb and have enjoyed it for the same reasons i'v enjoyed Giant Bomb over many years. Tim is my favorite over there at GI. I'm curious as to where he's going next, and i wonder how committed i'll be to GI's content when he's gone.

I'm hoping we'll still get to see him around with whatever he does, though i'm really hoping he'll be a part of the Giant Bomb crew, or at the very least he'll stop by once in awhile.

Tim and Dan are the reason GI's video stuff took off. They were a hell of a team and played a huge role in building that community. That was the period when I'd follow GI as much as GB.

He's not coming here, though. Says he won't be in the press, and Dan posted a comment in the GI Show's Youtube channel saying he's just moving over. I hope he stops by now and then. Tim is one of my favorite dudes in the industry (being a Sonic and video game music nerd, myself), and probably the only person I don't know that I'm sure I'd be good friends with. Hope this change turns out well for him, but he seemed to leave on great terms and he's leaving his hometown. So it must be something he's really passionate for.

I'm sure Tim and Dan will be reunited again at some point, presumably in a bigger bench and without jackets in SF.

More Tim on the site in any capacity would be very welcome. Best of luck to him!

Not to sound too harsh, but it feels like Game Informer is a sinking ship. With sites like GameTrailers getting taken down, it only seems a matter of time for Game Informer to follow en route. Tim Turi was also one of the best things about that site, peculiar taste in games notwithstanding. I've always respected his undying determination and perseverance when it came to playing through so, so many awful and obscure survival horror games for their LP series.

Wow Game Informer has lost a bunch of talent first Phil Kollar then our own Dan and now Tim. I love their Replay content and even more so their Super Replays (think something akin to an Endurance Run) and it's a real shame that they are slowly losing some of the great talent that makes up their content. Recently started to listen to their podcast as well it ain't half bad ya know!

Aw man, are you serious? Tim is one of the only reasons I still care about gameinformer. I rarely watch replays/super replays he isn't in. Wonder what he's doing now, if not press stuff.

@yummylee: GI is still one of the most circulated magazines in the US, but yeah, the talent drain is starting to have an effect. I stopped watching their video content around last year because Reiner progressively became weirdly animated. He started resembling a Youtuber. I can't imagine Hanson stays on much longer, the only person he has chemistry with is Jeff Cork. Man, that early Replay stuff is great, but a lot of GI things are so antiquated, its kind of a bummer to see them deteriorate. I mean they don't even have a proper forum on their site. Aw well, wistful memories and such.

I do like Tim Turi, this might be why they have been talking about the future of Replay over on GameInformer. Best of luck to him, and I hope he might show up here on Giant Bomb once in a while.

No disrespect to the others, I like them too, but I think Tim Turi was my favorite on GameInformer, that's still there.

I was a fan of Game Informer before I even came to Giant Bomb. With Tim leaving that only really leaves Hanson and Cork as my favourite personalities over there. I doubt Cork will go anywhere but Hanson might. I think eventually they'll hire new talent and come back around, and I don't think the loss of replay staff hurts the circulation of the magazine, but as a fan it's a shame as they're losing a lot of core personalities the last few years.

@dudeglove: Can you view their YouTube channel at all? They could make their videos on their blocked in certain regions too, but they might not. For the majority of their "personality"* videos have the names of the people featured in the video in the description, so if you just search an editors name, say 'Dan Ryckert', then all the videos featuring them will be listed (albeit in an odd order determined by YouTube's relevancy algorithm)

*My term for videos not about news or from trailers/demos/etc.. but instead about impressions from editors

Haha, I'm with you, it's like, okay, fine, I know it probably wont happen, okay but seriously just let it happen c'mon please?
But as others have said, hopefully his being close by gets him invited over from time to time. Very interested to hear what he winds up doing.

Makes me kind of sad on the GI side of things, to me they were kind of the Tim and friends! Show, I don't have anything against the other guys, I like them all, but Tim was such the driving force for the videos I can't imagine it without him.

As someone who has a lot of love for the video stuff they spent years building (Tim being one of, if not the most important part of), I'm irrationally bummed out that it couldn't go on forever.

Man.

Damn. He would fit right in I feel. Do you have a source on that info? Just say no so that I can still hope :). Maybe he is moving to NY to join the beast gang...

Edit: Just saw that he is moving to SF, missed that.

He'll be sorely missed on GI videos, I'd love to see if he shows up on videos on GB at some point. Any bets on who'll take up the reins of Replay? Is Reiner going to be the guy on sticks, or will they bring in Tack or Shea for that now...

@subliminalkitteh: Who knows? Its going to be interesting to what the Replay nucleus looks like going forward. I'm thinking Reiner, Kyle, and Hanson. Would love to see Kim brought into the fold regularly.

I was watching GI stuff before I even knew about GB. GI will always be my number one. When Dan left, I was sad but also curious about where he was going. He basically introduced me to GB, and I'm very happy he did. Turns out, he fits in better here than over at GI. Gameinformer is going to be fine, and Replay is going to be fine.

It sucks that Tim is leaving, but there is still a lot of talent over there. Reiner, Hanson, Cork, and Tack alone are a force, but then you have Kim, Shea, Kyle, and 'Fava as well (and rumor has it that McNamara may be getting involved more with Replay). GI is still going strong. The magazine isn't going in where and neither is Replay/SR.

I will not be convinced that Tim won't be joining GB until he announces his next gig. It would be amazing to have him on the GB team. (he's totally not coming here but one can dream)

Hanson and Cork will make replay work without Tim. It's a bummer he's leaving, but maybe we'll see more Juba. Additionally, never forget Ben Hanson's one true name. Big poop.

I know the thread is a few days old, but for those who were curious I thought I would point out that Tim did announce what his new job was today.
Working at CAPCOM! As a 'Social Media Specialist' for those that followed Tim, you really can connect the dots on why he said it was a dream job. Awesome, genuinely happy for him. Maybe he could sneak his way into a Capcom game quick look here and there? Anyways, I just thought that was cool and worth mentioning.

Capcom-unity announcment.

Lots of jobs come down to who you know so I'm not surprised whenever a journalist takes a job with a game developer in some capacity. Isn't Greg Kasavin the prototype for this? I always assume that the journalist made contacts in the industry and at some point conditions develop that provide an opportunity to get onboard with a company and they decide to try it out. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.
