so what has everyone been hearing about prototype?

looking around the internet I've heard that it's amazingly awesome and that its complete crap.
 Then I heard that the people making the game won't let reviews go up anywhere till the 11th which is two days after the game comes out. Which basically says to me the developers sent out a letter to everyone that read  "hey this game sucks, so don't tell anyone till we sold a few copies ok? thanks"

I hope that is not the case because I want this game to be good I'm all for new IPs

If I recall, a PS mag in the UK gave it a 9.

wow in the UK they always give lower scores than US places

I've heard that it's great, but we'll see. 

From what I've heard, it is supposedly pretty damn good. But that being said, I don't really have much of an interest in it and that is mostly through a friend. (Who may be biased about it :-P)

Hopefully though, its gotten a lot of hype. Too bad InFamous just came out though for them, as it is *somewhat* similar and is absolutely fantastic.

Apparently people have been criticising the leaked version for it's poor mission design and simplistic yet clunky control scheme.

I heard some people saying the graphics weren't that good but it was still a WIP.
Looking at recent videos, it looks pretty awesome.

from previews and critical opinions it controls in a streamlined format similar to Assassin's Creed. Not a bad thing for me personally, I loved Assassin's Creed.

The only conversations I've heard are from over at the ListenUp podcast.  Garnett Lee, host, has played both and he liked it a lot because it is more challenging than other similar titles.  It's more involved than InFamous or Crackdown.  Now, Garnett talks a lot of shit.  That's part of his charm (I think), but I doubt he's too far off on the complexity of gameplay (not game control) Prototype may offer.  The game comes out soon, so we'll see.

For what its worth HipHopGamer said it was awesome during his podcast during Activisions Game Day a couple weeks back, even went as far as saying that Prototype has stepped the bar up for this genre of games and for any procedding it to watch out.

From my point of view....I have been following Prototype sense it was announced because I really enjoyed Hulk: UD...  I have seen the two part developer walk thrus from Comic Con and CES over at Gametrailers.com.  I have watched all the gameplay trailers, story trailers, and have read the early reviews and I have no doubt this game is as good as Infamous, so I am getting myself the PS3 version and my son the X360 version.

I heard on Invisible Walls (GameTrailers) that it was rough. But that was obviously an older build they were talking about.

We'll have to see.

It's just like Hulk UD, but with a dude in a hoodie.

I'm pulling for it. Seems pretty interesting and ambitious.

From the gameplay I've seen, it looks pretty crummy. Hoping for a demo to change my thoughts about it since the concept is cool.
