Just saw this article at Something Awful. While yeah, it's supposed to be funny, there's definitely a lot of truth here concerning what everyone thought when we heard Giant Bomb was going back to Gamespot.
Something Awful's view on Giant Bomb's situation
The new motto will be: Your #1 Source For Cheats, Copy+Pasted News Stories, And Hot Babe Lists
Can't wait! Also, this:
Everyone that works on the site will literally be lined up against a wall and executed on a livestream, just hours before they get a chance to reveal the new game to be featured in the next Endurance Run feature.
I laughed at that but now I'm seriously wondering if they would force them to change the name Giant Bomb to a generic game site name...

Me too.
I really liked the article, it's clear that the writer is a fan and it's fun to get some humor out of it.
Speaking of which, I was confused when on that video with Jeff and that GameSpot guy, they said "people are wondering if we're going to start seeing GameSpot style of content up on GiantBomb". What does that mean? When I think of GameSpot, i don't think of "content". I think of spam and link-bait and clutter. The last thing I think of is actual content. I don't think of reviews or articles or commentary or personalities or talent or discussion or community. I just think of a rabid community of mouth-breathers (say what you will about GiantBomb, at least the discussions are largely deep, involved, and thought-out -- versus thirty pages of one line slur-combinations) and a bunch of clutter trying to sell me on shit.

Might wanna proofread this article next time, guys
That's the most incredible typo I've ever seen. It's like a completely different word, and yet I skimmed right over it without noticing when I was reading.

It's funny that the only word I couldn't immediately latch onto was "spelling." I had to go over it a couple of times to get it. Also, my Chrome browser spell check only finds a couple of these words misspelled.
Initially read it as "sleeping" myself, but I'm all like that doesn't make any sense!@benson said:

I totally read it as sleeping too. As for the article, I understand it's supposed to be amusing, but there were a couple things not that far fetched. The ones dealing with censorship of stupidity.

I wonder how long it'll take for someone to be offended by this satirical post.
Hopefully people read the first paragraph and understand its all in jest
1996 - Apple acquires NeXt
1999 - Exxon merges with Mobil
2000 - Chase Manhattan acquires J.P. Morgan
2006 - Disney acquires Pixar
2006 - Google acquires YouTube
2006 - AMD acquires ATI
2010 - Oracle Corp acquires Sun Microsystems
2012 - CBS Interactive acquires Giant Bomb
We'll be just fine.
This is me being cynical I suppose but I see it going down like this. The change will happen very gradually little by little GB will be assimilated by GS and eventually GB will no longer exist and you will have similar GB features on GS but watered down significantly, and we will have officially gone full circle and end up back in the cold heartless corporation environment with idiots that spend all their free time arguing about review scores.
In short, we are all fucked.
Something Awful still has a front page?
A scowling man in a suit will dissuade the crew from going off topic on the Bombcast. No more pizza talk, no more personality, no more negative opinions about games without pre-approved evidence that could stand up in court.
2real :(
"Ryan Davis will be prohibited from wearing shorts. A strict no-tracksuit policy will force Jeff Gerstmann to come in to work in a baby blue tuxedo every day. Brad Shoemaker will be fired for not being good enough at video games."
Hi-larious,

Remember that there was a time that Gamespot was great. Back in 06-07 when you had Rich Gallup producing stuff with Jeff, Ryan and Alex really coming into their own as on screen talent. Of course with Greg Kasavin, Carrie Gouskous and Rich leaving over the course of 07 and the last bastions of talent quitting after Jeff's termination and coming to Giant Bomb, the site turned to a sewer.
I'm hopeful that we'll keep our gated community of entertainment here at Giant Bomb and the Gamespot can stay in it's ghetto.

The best part about that typo is that, even after fixing it, they still got it wrong. It's spelled as "uncormfortable" now.
I can't wait to see how they'll spell next.
