It's a matter of mere days until the start of Blizzard's big huge fan event BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, but the company has already started dropping some heavy hitters on its forthcoming lineup. (I only use "forthcoming" in the most literal, you-will-play-this-stuff-eventually sort of way, because let's be honest, it isn't coming forth anytime soon.)
The closest Blizzard game to a release date at this point has to be StarCraft II, so it's appropriate that we've got a bunch of new material from that game's single-player campaign, which Blizz has been alluding to for what seems like forever but until hadn't actually presented in any significant form. I think you'll agree, this looks somewhat akin to a real-time strategy game. There's your professional analysis. (You can find an in-depth preview of the campaign over on Shacknews.)
Here's a few shots of the real-time cinematics, which gives you a pretty good idea of the level of detail Blizzard is going for with the in-game assets.
Lastly, here's a cinematic trailer Blizzard released along with these other assets. I feel like I've seen this one at some point in the past, but then, you really can't beat Blizzard when it comes to quality CG. So here it is again.
Drew and I will be heading down to Anaheim to get a closer look at everything Blizzard has going on with not only StarCraft but also Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and any other shenanigans happening at the convention. So hey, stay tuned this weekend!
