I've been dealing with trying to recover my Steam password for the past hour.
I tried to log into my account, I have never really had a problem with this before but I never really use Steam either. The password was wrong... not sure what the problem is here I almost always use the same password. I decide to recover it and here is where everything becomes about a thousand times more annoying than need be. They send me an email with an entirely too confusing confirmation code, then Steam after 'working' for two minutes goes to a page where I enter this code along with my "secret answer". The question is simple enough, "What is your mother's maiden name?" I enter the answer and then after 'working' for another two minutes steam asks me to put a new password. I put in what I always use to make things easy again and after another two minutes of 'work' it tells me either the password is invalid or the secret answer is wrong. Thanks for being specific! So now I've been going through this slow ass process over and over again trying new passwords and variations on the answer, which for some dumb ass reason is case sensitive, hoping I'll come across the right combination that I'll probably forget again in a month next time I log on Steam. Seriously the man responsible for this method should be tortured.
Steam Password Nightmare
My brother had this problem, he didn't log on for like 4 months and forgot his password. (This is why I keep a list of passwords in a safe-type thing ;p) He couldn't remember the answer to his secret question, so he basically lost his account. I guess he could try calling them or something, but he's too lazy for that.
In future maybe just save the password in a note pad, and if you're bothered about someone finding that just set it as a hidden file.
I don't get why the people who've lost / forgotten their password don't contact Steam technical support. It's the most obvious answer here. Stop being lazy.
