I really don't know the difference. Which one is better for me?
Streaming or Progressive? Which and why?
I never really knew the difference either. A teacher once told me but said it in bad terms so I basically forgot right away. But I go with what @BunkerBuster said:
" I like to skip ahead alot so I have to use streaming. "
sometimes when I'm on a road trip l like to load up all the videos i want to watch with progressive. Other wise I use streaming because i come back to videos and skip ahead to the part i left off at
I have a connection of about 800-900kb/sec and i also have to use progessive when on hd, which i dont mind as it pretty much loads up straight away and can skip ahead easily when needed. when on streaming it doesnt even bother loading at all lol must be a bug or something, it doesnt show buffering or anything.
Progressive for me because I have a slow download speed. I recently switched providers but the level of my new one is only a slight improvement. I still get buffering-pauses if I go streaming. So I like to use progressive and download a good sized chunk of the video before I start watching it. I don't d/l HD for this reason.
i always thought that
- streaming means its semi-live, like plays right away and you cant seek (but the benefit is that you dont have to wait),
- while Progressive fills the bar and allows you to seek back and forth, but you have to wait for it to load
