The game I have been trying to remember from oh so long ago was a FMV title of some kind. It was scifi themed and I remember it was mostly bad 3D shapes for background (think "Trapper keeper" designs) with 2 live actors portrayed on them. I think they were exploring an alien ship or something. You played as a little floating drone of some kind and I vividly remember a segment were you clicked on flying worm things to shoot them to save the human characters.
The "Can't remember the name of this game" Thread v3.0

@boxxybae: Neverending Nightmares?
P.T.?

@chris8511: no, the graphics were much better than that. They were a grainy realistic 3d. And there wasnt combat in the demo, just point and click adventure/puzzle.
@onemanarmyy: it is!! thanks!
@yesindeed: Yes, indeed! That's gotta be it. Thanks!
Edit:
Finally found it, it was Power Pete:

Long shot as I remember very little, but here goes:
Platform: Macintosh (Mac OS 9)
I think it was Shareware or freeware, but not sure.
2-d top down, almost certain
Very cartoony look (with a candy theme I think), you might play as a rabbit or similar animal. Lost of different enemies, either animals/creatures or different candy, not sure.
Gameplay was shooter-ish, weapon pickups, shoot enemies, collect random stuff. I think there were keys/doors/barriers.
The levels were a mix of grass and candy i think. Multiple levels.
The game must be from the 90s, probably end 90s.
I have a game on my mind that has been rattling around in my brain for many years now and nothing I remember is enough for google, so I turn to the aid of you all.
I played a game a long time ago for the original gameboy. it was a side scroller and to what I remember of it. it played sort of like Zelda II. i remember the game starting out next to a stationary enemy that you could easily kill and move on. When you took a hit, you'd slide perfectly horizontal backwards, even if you were in the air. enemies would sometimes drop coin-like objects that you could use to buy power ups, I think (coin part, yes. their use, idk). i remember the first level had a giant frog as a boss. I also remember that over time, your health would go down. starting at 99 and it would reset to 99 once before the second 0 would cause a game over where it had a picture of your hero on his knee with a dark looming figure behind him, presumably death or the main villain. i can still remember how the game-over melody went as well as some of the music from the first level.
I was born the same year Kirby's Dream Land was released, so I assume it was around that time period. I know 100% it was for the big ol' 4 AA Battery Gameboy. I know it was adventure, maybe rpg, not too sure. it was black and white (or green) and back then, it was just me and my sisters. I don't know if it was popular or not. I don't remember it being too hard, so I feel it might have been E, no worse the T maybe.
I will be so very excited if someone is able to find the game I am looking for.

4 and 2/3 years since the last post. that doesn't look good for me...
There's this game where you play as a woman in a cyberpunk setting...it came out near the end of last gen cycle...

Could that be Remember Me released in 2013?

oh yes how could i forget it
I played this game a couple of years ago and i think the title of the game has two words and MAYBE the one word is 'Derek'. I think you are an agent or a thief, i don' know. It's 2D. It's about a guy who collects something (maybe coins) and diamons which worth 20 000. You can collect apples also. There is a house in which are mice on the floor. And you can sometimes jump on the roofs. You can get a pair of boots in which you can jump high. And there are old guys that when they see you, start chasing you with guns, and you can hit them with something, i can't remember with what. There is a part in the game in which you have a wood on the water and you must not touch the water.
A friend of mine had this bird's-eye view space game on his PC or Mac. He moved in 1995, so the game had to come out before then. I don't think he had a CD-ROM, so probably a floppy disc game. You control 1 ship, you have shields and lasers. I can't remember if there was cargo or anything else really. I just remember loving it and would love to find it even in video form.
I can tell you it's not Escape Velocity, not as actiony as that, more like a Sim. It kinda looked like EV though.
This one might be a little tough as I can't remember that many details from it.
It was a game I played on the PS2. It was a third person action game where you had a cursed/demon sword and when you didn't kill enemies the sword would constantly drain life from you. I remember it playing kind of similar to Shinobi or Bujingai.
hi all, so im looking for an old PC game say around mid 90s(ish) was a top-down action RPG (think diablo without the loot) had single screen co-op you collected powerups to make your weapons better and i think there was some puzzle solving (like triggers that had to be hit in order) to finish levels. fantasy setting, i think there may have been different class types like mage warrior archer or something like that. fast paced gameplay with only keyboard controls....
Hope you guys can help...
Thanks in advance
Hey guys, im looking for a PSOne game. All i can remember is as follow:
-You can summon green eggs, your opponents do to
-Inside the eggs are monsters
-Will hatch over time in battle
-Has monster grading ( Class A, Class B, Class...)
-Is a turned based game... I think :/
-And yea, once the eggs hatch, u control the monster to fight for you. I feel its abit of Final Fantasy Tactics Style.
Thanks in advance. Looked at 800++ cover pictures but none rang a bell.
There was this game I played briefly that was on a disc of freeware from the early 90s called House of Games II . It would boot up seemingly randomly either as a sort of shmup or as rogue-like where you could pick what kind of monster you wanted to play as and then you would fight your way through a dungeon. Both games shared the same graphics.
@peteycoco: Found an ebay copy of the game here
Looks like it was just a huge (over 400) compilation of shareware that someone (Hi Tech, apparently out of Florida) burned onto CDs, not original (or even complete) games. The game itself doesn't ring a bell; I can't seem to find a list of what was included (it probably didn't have a paper guide listing the games) so you'd have to locate a burn, or buy the disc.
@noellimmyz: Monster Seed maybe?
@abyssalriftThat's a tough one, because it sounds a bit like every action RPG. Baldur's Gate maybe? Or one of the Capcom D&D games? Do you remember anything else about it?
@bhtav: AHHHHH OMG. Thanks alot Q_Q!!!
@bhtav: AHHHHH OMG. Thanks alot Q_Q!!!
Fun game :)
@maleshep: No problem. I have to ask again how sure you are that we are talking about a Sega CD game, though? That system had only about 100 games made for it so you should be able to look through every single one of them on either this site or the one I linked in my last post. Could it have been a normal Genesis or Saturn game, maybe?
Hey Duders!
Wonder if anyone can help me out. There's been one game stuck in the back of my mind since i was having a major robot kick from the BATTLETECH kickstarter (and my sis and i remembered playing the old Westwood games on pc.)
There was an RTS game out late 90's/early 2000's that was 3D models, where whilst you were building your base you could also build giant robots. there were 3 or so factions, with different types of weapons for their mechs, and once you destroyed them your worker units could grab parts (arms/legs etc.) left from the battle back to base to either research or add to a mech straight away.
I really liked the idea of re-using parts in the middle of battle, but cannot remember what the game was called?? Anybody out there have an idea?
Hello there, guys.
The game I'm trying to remember for quite some time now was a top-down perspective shooter. It had a brief video to help explain the story, that was about humanity fleeing from Earth in a giant ship, since the aliens destroyed our planet. Then you, as a soldier, must fight in an almost impossible battle to drive the aliens back from wherever the humans are trying to settle (the game doesn't explain that part, or I can't remember it doing so). The enemies are mostly insect-like (at least in the initial stages) and there are tons of them trying to get to you. Really, like thousands!
I remember that you had to unlock stages by playing the previous ones, either until beating them completely or by gathering honor points that accumulated even if you died. That was how I got past the first stage, because I was never able to kill all the alien insects coming to destroy the wall I started at, even with the three overpowered turrets at my disposal.
There was also a multiplayer game mode, which I'm not sure if it was for up to 2 or 4 players, neither if it was competitive or cooperative. The intermission menu in the singleplayer mode was interestingly immersive, featuring some advertising about the armor and weapons the soldiers used in the fight agains the aliens.
It was a freeware PC game from 10 years ago or so. I lost the CD in which I found it and forgot its name. Does anyone know about this game?
@bodger0ne: I am pretty sure that is Metal Fatigue http://www.giantbomb.com/metal-fatigue/3030-10599/
Okay, so I VERY vaguely remember the description of the game but I will try providing what I can because I've been dying to know which game it is and wanting to play it.
A very brief description:
1. I remember I was playing as the protagonist whose family died.
2. He maybe went into his own previous house where his family was murdered?
3. Whenever he interacted with certain objects he'd see his family getting brutally killed or something.
4. Him holding a flashlight.
Platform:
PC game.
Year:
Don't know, but I *think* I played it around 2008 or 2009. I remember playing Max Payne 2 on the same laptop. It was my cousin's laptop whom I no longer have any contact to since she's went to Germany.
Please please PLEASE help me out! Thank youuuu!
@eviltheslayer: Thats the one!!! Thanks Duder. Now after looking up the wiki on it i know my confusion, the disk i had of it was named Metal Conflict (Hurrah for Dad working in the middle east, so many bootlegs named randomly)
@phantom903: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hill:_Homecoming
or \
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alone_in_the_Dark_(2008_video_game)
??
@rcath: Nope, looked up both of them. Neither is. Like the way that game was played is ALMOST like Silent Hills', but it's not the accurate game. Also as I stated, it was not guaranteed to have been released around 2008 and 2009, I just played it during then. Also, was not the most high-spec'd laptop. As I said, I remember playing Max Payne 2, which was released back in 2003. I doubt the laptop would have been able to support new 2008 games, at least without lags and whatnot, because the game I played didn't have any lags.
Hey guys, and girls!
First of all, sorry for any mistakes in my text... i'm from Hungary, and my English is not the best as you can tell. :)
So, I need a game for PC. I can remember, i've played it a lot in 2003-2004.
It's about something like finding things in a building, clothes, accessories, i think for an actor/actress.
I can remember to a green animal/alien on the cover. (maybe a purple one too).
This animal talks to you while you play the game, like a tutorial mode in other games...
You also need to find accesories for film making i think.
This game is about making films, stars, actors, actresses. idk, something about that.
There are some stars around the title i guess.
Mmm. What else.... I remember to a scene where you controlling a video camera, or cust the mouse is a video camera... idk. It's really hard to remember now, i've searched all the entire house for the CD, but no results. Please help me find this game, if you need something more, let me know...
I'm going to send money to the people who find me the game.. on paypal, cuz i'm from hungary.
Thanks,
Richard
Hello Everyone!!!!
I just bought a PS4 after a drought of 3 years without any video game systems. The horror.
I'm trying to find a game that I believe I downloaded on the PS3's PSN sometime between 2008-2012. It was a 2-d side scroller, action shooter, but you could then shoot into the background sometimes as well for a trickey 3d expereince, but not 1st person. Simple story is a guy was looking for reporter or whatever in the woods, finds the secret military base, gets the super secret futuristic weapon suit. Final boss had you launching nuclear missiles against a flying carrier as it hoevered over the lake it came out of. Fast, fun, good graphics...remminded me of some Super Metroid.
Any help, much obliged!! Thank you!!!

You're easily describing Shadow Complex, but to my knowledge that was only released on Xbox Live. I could be mistaken!
I need some help guys, I've been trying to remember the name of a game that isn't that good (as far as I remember) but It's been killing me not knowing what's it's name.
It's from early 2000s, probably indie or low-budget, I played the PC demo that came with other demos on some magazine (in Portugal). You play as a black blob with yellow eyes and white teeth and you can make the blob liquid to squeeze on smaller spaces, harder to destroy blocks or make it grab the walls and ceiling. It's a "platformer" and the demo I played took place on something underground. I think the blob was 2D and the levels 3D. Related to the game there was also a black and white image of a girl (probably his girlfriend or something) in the same pose as Pulp Fiction's poster.
Any luck?

My best guess is Gish.
@citizencoffeecake: Yes! That's it! Damn it, I can't believe I've been trying to remember the name of this dumb game for so long. Thank you!
edit: whoa I had no idea that this was created by the same guy who did The Binding of Isaac

Yea Gish is one of the bosses is Binding of Isaac and I've played Isaac so much all you had to say was black blob and yellow eyes.
If anyone can help me I'm trying to find the name of a fighter on the PC from the mid 90's (I assume).
From what I can remember you played as massive robots, it was polygonal and as a loading screen you would see the robots surrounded by scaffolding with tiny people repairing them etc... I know it's not much to go on but I would love to know the game of this old game, thanks!

Very Likely One Must Fall (2097)

@killroycantkill: Was it Nightshade maybe? I think it was a sequel to Shinobi or something.
http://www.giantbomb.com/nightshade/3030-22069/
edit: Or possibly Onimusha?
@rchardb: Could it be The Movies by Lionhead?

yeeah that looks like it could be it, damn thanks! haha
@streets_of_vlad: Unfortunately it wasn't any of those since I own both of those. I believe the first stage was a forest level with some fog. Just can't remember if it was a bamboo forest or a regular forest.
Thanks for the guesses though, I really appreciate the help.

Sure it was PS2? Sounds a little like Otogi Myth of Demons. The first part is a foggy bamboo forest.
@streets_of_vlad: @citizencoffeecake: Wow sorry guys, I just replayed some of Shinobi and the game I was thinking of was actually Shinobi for the PS2. No wonder it played a lot like it......
I just mis-remembered that the part where the sword starts killing you is the second stage not the first.
Thanks for the help anyways, also thanks for making me want to play Otogi again lol.
@killroycantkill: That's funny because when I first read your original description I went "that sounds an awful lot like Shinobi....". I own it as well so it immediately what came to mind.
