Oblivion maybe. I've had two or three characters on 360, but never got to 100 with any of them, and one or two others on PC.
The only other ones I'm certain of are Halo 3, Ratchet Deadlocked, Star Wars Battlefront, SWB2, Ratchet Up Your Arsenal (maxed out all weapons and got most skill points), and Crash Bandicoot Warped.
I also got every last fucking precursor orb on the original Jak and Daxter way back then. May have taken that long to get them.
The Century List: 100+ Hours
Some of ya'll have put a lot of time into a lot of games!
I tend to play a wide variety of games and have trouble putting so much time into one game for some reason. I guess the next big thing always catches my eye and I move on. The only games I can think of off-hand that I've played for that long would be:
- Super Smash Brothers Melee - Pretty much my go-to game in college, plus I put a bunch of time into it before that during high school around its release in 2001.
- Fallout 3 - I was engrossed in this game for a few weeks straight, doing a couple 60-70 hr playthroughs, plus playing through all the DLC that was released later down the line.
- Resonance of Fate - I loved how different the battle system was in this RPG, and the way it told a more mundane story that was pretty much just about some hired mercs doing random jobs, and you learning about their personalities and the world around them - as opposed to the normal grandiose RPG "saving the world" tale that you usually get. A more over-reaching story forms near the end of the game, but it wasn't the hook for me. The game itself is fairly long, and plus I spent a lot of time working on another playthrough and completing the post-ending content. The chapter of this game that's set during Christmas is still one of the best damn things ever.
- Final Fantasy X - Probably the first RPG I can remember being really into. I loved the story and characters, and there was so much extra stuff to do, from getting extra summons to finding all the legendary weapons.

Hey, me too! :) I don't think it took nearly that long, but I could be mistaken, it's been a while.
Final Fantasy X
Persona 3 FES
Borderlands
Every Pokemon game ever released. Or more specifically, the ones from Blue to the recent Black/White versions.
Or you can just look at my list of games I've spent over 100 hours in.
hmm...
- Persona 4
- Fallout: New Vegas
- Team Fortress 2
- Trials 2: second edition
- L4D2
- GTA: Vice City (this is probably the most, spent maybe 500 hours or so? too much)
- GTA: San Andreas
- Combat Arms probably (this old F2P like CoD clone it wasn't very good but it WAS free)
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (beat this shit like 3-4 times)
- Persona 3: FES
- Pokemon Red & Silver
- Europa Universalis 3
some of these are guesses, but most should be correct
Pokemon (Probably every version I've ever played)
KOTOR
KOTOR 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age 2
Counter Strike Source
Team Fortress 2
Call of Duty 4
World of Warcraft
Diablo 2
Super Smash Bros. (Melee and Brawl)
Monster Hunter Tri
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem/ Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
NHL Hits 2003
Timesplitters Future Perfect
Those are the definite games I've played over 100 hours. There are some that are kinda iffy (The Sims 1 & 2 are a good example).
Definite:
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced
Pokemon Yellow
Civilisation IV
Quite Sure:
Metal Gear Solid 3
Diablo II
Age of Empires II
Possible:
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario 64 (if you include DS remake)
Mass Effect (two playthroughs and dlc but I'm not sure if that adds up to 100hrs)
Mass Effect 2 (same as above)
There are probably others that I'm not remembering at the moment. I'll make this into a proper list when I'm not on the mobile site.
Definite:
age of empires gold (countless hours at pc cafe with my friends)
counter strike ( countless at pc cafe)
counter strike source ( at least 500 hrs which is the current steam count, a lot more before that)
age of empires 2 (we pretty much ditch class and play this for a few months in highschool)
star craft ( not as much play time as AoE but def. more than 100)
star craft 2(my current RTS of choice)
Super mario bros (I spent so much time playing this as a kid)
Tetris (time killer during college)
FFX (I remembered my save file was at 155 hrs at one point, max out everything)
fifa 99 (my fav. for the pc)
fifa 2000
winning eleven ( pretty much from 99 ed. to 2010)
battle arena toshinden 3 ( my fav fighting game, has so much fun with this back in PS1 days)
Possible:
RE4: play through it and got everything twice on the GC and PS2
Persona 3
Persona 4
Except for the first two, I'm just guessing:
Morrowind
Oblivion
Call of Duty 4
Super Smash Bros Melee
Pokemon Blue/Yellow
SSX Tricky (borderline, maybe more like 80)
Tales of Symphonia (also really iffy, but I could swear I beat that damn game like 7 times)
And I watched two dudes play Persona 4 for over 100 hours (barring some episodes I skimmed through). In my opinion that counts.
- Every Pokémon game I've ever owned.
- Super Smash Bros.
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- World of Warcraft(300+ DAYS played)
- Mario Kart 64/Double Dash
- Guild Wars
- Counter Strike 1.6
- Minecraft
- Trials HD
- Perfect Dark Zero(only 360 game I had for a while).
I'm sure I've re-played Ocarina of Time so many times it probably goes way above 100 hours total.
Left 4 Dead: 418 hours
Left 4 Dead 2: 847 hours
Team Fortress 2: 100+ hours
Considering the amount of times I've played Resident evil 4 (about 8) plus the mercenaires with S rankings would end up being around 100 hours.
Morrowind
Oblivion
Final Fantasy XIII
Resonance of Fate
The Last Remnant
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Dead or Alive 3
Just Cause 2
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Borderlands (about 21 days across 3 characters... around 500 hours :| )
Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga
BlazBlue
Lost Odyssey
Halo 3
Halo: CE
Tales of Vesperia
Pokemon Yellow
A Link to the Past (Across my entire life I've probably beaten it 5 times. First time was when I was 6, last was around when I was 17)
Phantasy Star Online Ep I&II
Guild Wars
Oblivion
Tales of Vesperia
Final Fantasy XIII (Grinding for achievements)
Something of note is that I played Class of Heroes for 55 hours in one week. I noticed when I was saving the game and was so surprised at how much I was playing it (It remains the only game I played that long in such a short amount of time) I stopped playing it immediately.
Team Fortress 2 and Trackmania United are the only two that I can say for sure I've played that much. Other games that might qualify are Pokemon Red and Command & Conquer Red Alert, but I don't know my exact time played with those games. Possibly Runescape too (when I was a dumb kid, obviously).
The Century List
These are all games that I've put over 100 hours into. Thanks to gpbmike for the idea.
Unsure about: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Chrono Trigger, Diablo, Diablo II, Dungeon Raid, Elite Beat Agents, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Harvest Moon, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Pokemon Silver, Ragnarok Online, Star Ocean: The Second Story, Super Mario RPG, Super Smash Bros., Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Tetris DS, Xenogears
Probably just Street Fighter 4 (across all iterations that is) for me. The only other games that come close are various epic RPGs; DA:O, FF7, Morrowind and so on. But I rarely replay such games, so I don't think I have gone over 100 hours with any of them.
World of Warcraft - Obviously. I've actually forbidden myself from ever typing /played on my two main characters.
Asheron's Call - Over 60 days game time at least.
Asheron's Call 2 - Probably the worst game I've sunk significant time into.
Everquest - EQ is a hell of a drug.
Dark Age of Camelot - Does dual-boxing count as double time?
Final Fantasy VI - 5 playthroughs.
Final Fantasy VII - 3 playthroughs, one maxxed.
Final Fantasy X - Full Clear + Half replay
Final Fantasy Tactics - 3.5 playthroughs. The .5 being the lovely Chapter 3 ending where you can get fucked and have to start over. That's when my 13 year old self learned about staggered save games.
Chrono Trigger - Questionable. CT is not a long game (for a 90s JRPG). Even playing it 4+ times might not top out 100 hours.
Baldur's Gate 2 - I've played the first parts of this game at least 8 times. The full game 3 times. I will do it again.
Diablo II/Lord of Destruction - Probably sunk 20 hours into this in the last few weeks alone thanks to an argument with two friends about Torchlight 2 and Diablo III.
Warcraft III - Only RTS where I played the ladder until it became work and not fun. At least 100+ hours to get there, right?
Starcraft / Brood War - Only played multiplayer for fun, lasted a lot longer. Funny how that works.
Unreal Tournament 2004 - At least a quarter of which was in Deck 17 or Facing Worlds.
Civilization II - Build Roads On Everything: The Game.
Civilization IV - Steam spares my pride by only have 37 hours displayed. Good thing I got in 400+ before it started counting.
Oh my - I have over 450 hours with Oblivion. I'm still working though Shivering Isles, because I need that done before Skyrim...
And all of the Sims games, except 3. I must have played The Sims 2 for at least as long - probably a whole lot longer.
Dragon Age: Origins for sure too, because I played through twice.
And, though it shames me to say it, Minesweeper and Bejewelled 3. Sometimes I catch myself playing and think "I don't even like this game". Then it gets uninstalled. At least for a year or two.
Fallout 3 , Oblivion, CoD4, MW2, Gears of War 1, maybe Rainbow Six Vegas, and probably Melee from back in the day
I'm going to say Pokemons Ruby and Diamond, and The Sims 2. That's probably it. Probably way more in the latter.
Edit: Okay, I'm actually checking Steam now. Add Saints Row 2 (duh).
Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Yoshi's Island, Persona 3, Metal Gear Solid 1-3, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Metroid Prime. Only Persona 3 is certain, but the rest are very safe guesses. The single player titles listed are probably the only games I've played through multiple times (except Persona 3). Each of those multiplayer games... well, I played them a lot. I think Enemy Territory is probably my most played game of all time, though it might be Day of Defeat. ET and DoD are probably the best freaking online FPS games ever. Screw CoD.
EDIT: How could I forget World of Warcraft. I put a lot of time into that. Thinking of MMORPGs, I'm almost certain I put a ton of time into Ragnarok Online as well. I think I played it more than WoW. RO is so awesome...
@gpbmike: You COULD just play the GBA version on the DS. It has a massively better translation than the old SNES days.
Century List
Some games come and go...some you never, ever stop playing. These games are the ones I've sunk over 100 cumulative hours into. This also proves that, throughout my life and especially in my childhood, I had an ABUNDANCE of freetime.
1. EarthBound Because of COURSE I have. I play this game just about every year. Don't always beat it even, I just really, really love that first third.
2. Chrono Trigger A game with over a dozen endings gets re-released on the DS with a massively better translation? How could I NOT unlock them all again?
3. Final Fantasy VI See above only without the endings. Just playing through this game twice would probably get you over 100 hrs.
4. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium This one disappeared for awhile (from my life, anyway) then Sega Genesis Collections started cropping up. So it's back, baybay! This game was killing protagonists when Final Fantasy VII was just a glimmer in Squaresoft's eye.
5. Shining Force II Never actually owned a copy of this (nor Phantasy Star IV for that matter) until it was in a collection. Rented them both a LOT as a kid, though. The game that introduced me to tactical, strategic, turn-based games, though it would take me a few years to comprehend the strategic aspects.
6. Super Street Fighter IV I'm combining my time with Street Fighter IV and this, though I probably don't need to. I lived in a house with five other dudes for two and a half years and this was one of the games we played almost every day. And in fact, I still do.
7. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES My roommate at the time probably knows the music of this game by heart for how much I played it. Then FES came out (again, combining those two times) and it was time to learn all over again.
8. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 Played this and used the Endurance Run as background noise for when I had to grind levels/fuse. How very meta of me.
9. Mass Effect Everyone say it with me: Sci-fi RPG. Aaaaaaah, there really aren't enough. Letalone enough done THIS well, the game was a revelation when it came out and remains strong, ensuring its status as a classic for years to come.
10. Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect's kid bought a motorcycle and took off speeding. Shorter, but more streamlined, it might not have the grand, sweeping plot of the first, but its vastly more replayable.
11. Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal Even back then it was easy to look past the weird, shoe-horned AD&D components that were crammed into this game that told an amazing story with some of the best characters in videogame history.
12. Dragon Age: Origins And, of course, its spiritual successor. Gone are the clunky mechanics of Baldur's Gate, but I didn't find the characters quite as compelling on this pass. I actually like the cast of the sequel more, but this game took me around 80 hours to beat on its first pass, so it wasn't exactly difficult to come back around and hit over 100. |
Edit: Oh and I forgot Super Smash Bros. Melee. That was pretty much the Street Fighter IV of my high school days.
I quit wow 2 years ago, that said I have still spent about 4000 hours on it. I am sure counter strike, SC2, and Cod4 are on that list also.
@gpbmike: Men of War: Vietnam comes out on friday, so you can do it all over again.
There really aren't many 100h games for me, at least not since I was a kid. Maybe Oblivion and WoW, just. Empire, Civ 5 and Shogun 2 are the most played on my Steam list, at 70h, 60h & 60h respectively.
- Borderlands
- Fallout 3
- Oblivion
- WoW
- Halo 3
- Halo 2
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Starcraft 2
- Minecraft
- Fable 1, was my favorite game for years.
I've put over 200 hours into Fallout 3 (across two playthroughs), and I'm sure that throughout all my playthroughs of Mass Effect 1, I've put over a hundo into that. Probably close to that for ME2 as well.
And I probably got well over 100 in Super Smash Bros. Melee too. Probably Soul Calibur II too. I spent a lot of days playing fighting games with my friends on the GameCube.
I think that's it though.
Wait, I think Deadly Premonition too.
Edit: Does watching the Persona 4 ER count?
hmm, this will be easy. I shall list from most to least.
World of warcraft - 8,280 hours Or 345 days Or 94% of a year!
Wc3 Dota - I can only guess but at least 30days worth of time...
Pokemon Silver - 206 hours
Pokemon SoulSilver - 192 hours
L4D2 - 187 hours
Persona 3Fes - 173 hours
Fallout 3 - 165 hours
Counter Strike - 166 hours After steam started tracking it.
Demons Souls - 132 hours
Gt5 - 112 hours
And a very close 10th place
Tf2 - 92.8 hours
There are alot more but to put down every Pokemon game would take forever which every one except Crystal has over 100+ hours.
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Megaman Battle network 3 Blue
Borderlands
Mass Effect 2
Pokemon Yellow
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2
Yeah....
What is this 500+ hours? 512 hours to be exact!
I'm also a little over 400 for Black Ops.
I think for CS:Source it's just under 100. No idea for original CS especially since we were playing that since Beta 5.
I maxed out all my character in FFVI but I think it only clocked in at 80 something hours.
