Silly arguments on both sides, but I have to say Vinny took it(I also don't know anything about ultima III). The randomly selecting is interesting and can make for some good humor, but letting people pick would probably yield far more interesting debates.

Glad to see Vinny getting in on the action.

Liking the random element, especially when it leads to gems like "Ultima 3 is probably an RPG of some kind." I hope you manage to rope in (still not done with the puns from Friday) more office people who have better things to do.

Is producter a reference to when his name tag was mis-spelled as him being the video "producter" at that that GB in-person podcast thing at E3 or PAX or wherever it was?  If so, you are winner.

Additional thought for a variant on this game: Each player looks at his or her dealt cards, and once the question is chosen, both players choose three of their cards to pass to their opponent face down. Each person chooses one of the face down cards passed to them, and that's their game to argue for.

...I should probably watch some of the other Metagame videos, because they've probably already done something like this.

I hope Dave or Drew makes an appearance in the next video, since I want one of you to ask them to implement this type of idea on the site itself. I don't know much about programming, but I can't imagine it being that hard to implement.

Ben's head!!! I don't think I've ever seen Ben's face/head before!!! It's usually high above where the camera is pointing!!!

OK, maybe I'm being slightly hyperbolic, but his head has definitely not been in a camera shot for that long before.

If you actually know anything about Ultima III (there's a reason it's in the deck) I think you could easily win this argument. Sadly Ben did not. Vinny won by the mere fact that he presented a coherent (if not super-persuasive) argument.
 
The whole "just pick blindly" system may make it more fun to watch, but does it really make it more interesting? In the original, it was possible to agree and move on to the next round. That seems to have been removed now, creating a more adversarial game, perhaps as a commentary on the society we live in.

Can you include polls in blog posts? I think that would make a lot more sense for these Metagame video threads. It would be a lot easier to see who the community votes for.

Also, Vinny obviously won this one.

This is great series (better than any other series done by the interns). You guys should post the videos up on giant bomb.

If someone is going to pick 100 games to put into the final deck, why the fuck would you pick Ultima III? Of all the Ultima games to matter to the industry beyond the super-nerds who already play it, why not Ultimate Online?

Neither won. Ben at least got points for standing strong on his card.

I think it might be interesting to make it a little more like a standard debate style by giving players the option for a short rebuttal period (1min or less). Format might be something like:

Player 1 Presents Case

Player 2 Presents Case

Player 1 Rebuttal of Player 2's points

Player 2 Rebuttal of Player 1's points

Vinny won that, his arguments actually makes sense!  
 
But anyone else would had picked up a game that they don't know about and had to talk about it in a short duration. So Ben is not to blame.

Vinny is the best intern.

I like the random, but I think to eliminate what happened to Ben (not knowing anything about hte game), the player should get to look at his/her five cards, pick one card to eliminate, and then has the other 4 cards randomly selected. That way they still might have to argue for some game that doesn't really fit the argument but they also hopefully have some kind of understanding of the game they're arguing for.
