I am not one for trading anything in to retail, and I as well have grown tired of the monopoly that is GameStop, but I got an email in today that said 50% more for trades, including systems. I called a local store for details and confirmation and he said that is true with their Wii U normal trade value and the bonus 50%, it would trade for just over 280$. As a college student, about to live on my own in a month and half way through paying off a PS4, this has really enticed me since I can get not too far off from what I originally paid and I wouldn't be losing a lot of money. I could pay off the PS4 without worrying about spending my cash on it and I could wait for the Wii U to have a larger library before buying into it. When it comes to trades, I am not one to be so easily enticed, but this has enticed me since I care very little for the system and I do feel their will be a price drop soon since it's so close to the PS4's price. What do you think?
Trade in a Wii U for 280$ at GameStop?
I doubt the basic WU will still exist this Christmas, and by then, if they want the delux to move when even last year on Black Friday the 360/PS3 with tons of games were just $199, they'll have to hit $250 this fall. Then, the WU will trade for like $100-125. Would you play ANY WU games between now and PS4's launch? If not, get your money while the gittens good for a PS4, then buy a used WiiU next year for under $200.
I'm assuming this, but I'm guessing you bought your Wii U at launch/near launch. Why would you want to go through that again with the PS4? I'm not sure what the launch titles are for the PS4, but still. General rule of thumb is that you never buy a console near launch. Plus the Wii U is about to get a huge influx of games this falls. Why get out just when things are about to turn around?

Why are you even asking then? If you don't like the system then sell it off while this promotion is still going on.

Basic conversation, since it's the first time I've seen GameStop have a trade that is this close to the original retail value. I don't know, just talking.
@mrpilkington: Is this deal for anyone or just for people who have one of those GameStop membership cards?
EDIT: Just checked the GS website, the 50% extra applies for in store credit only, not cash.
I'm positive that's wrong. It would say strictly in the offer if that was the case.

Yeah, it's not. It doesn't have to be put toward a pre-order but I would put it towards my pre-order of a PS4 already. Also, I get that new systems have terrible post launch periods, generally speaking, but I know that the PS4 will eventually have games that interest me. The WiiU I am not sure about. I saw the Nintendo Direct during E3, and was very hopeful, but after that announcement, I realized that Nintendo and I just don't see eye-to-eye anymore. Those games might be great, but none of them interest me in the slightest.

Might sound odd but this thread sparked me to do the same...for a ps3.
Been missing so many games over the years.
