With the Vita on its way, I'm trying to decide if I should strictly buy games digitally so I can play them on the Vita and sell my PSP and UMDs or just keep my PSP and buy whatever is cheapest. Sometimes I see games I'm interested in for $10 as UMDs and digital downloads for $15-20, but if I want to get rid of my system which will eventually die anyway and play a Vita, I'm guessing the latter would be a better buy. What do you recommend doing?

You could also dump the ISOs from your UMDs and play them on the Vita with the exploit.

It depends on whether you consider yourself a collector or if you think you might become a collector some day and regret selling them.

There's a way to play ROMs on the Vita already?

You should have already stopped buying UMDs years ago.

Yeah, but only PSP games. They've basically cracked the PSP emulation, not the Vita itself.

Depends on how you think. Games that I really like are ones that I prefer to have physically. I'd like to be able to pass those on to my kids, or brothers, or whatever. Games that are just impulse buys or are casual games I don't really care about having physically. Games like Plants vs Zombies or Pixeljunk games are ones that I don't really need to have physically.

I recommend keeping the PSP, just so you have the option of getting cheap and/or rare UMDs in the future. I'd consider selling your current UMDs *if* you can get them to the Vita at a price that works for you, but keep the PSP.
