AS IS TRADITION I HAVE PUT "CYCLE OFF" AS AN OPTION FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT A BREAK BEFORE WE RESET NEXT YEAR, POTENTIALLY WITH CHANGES. YOU CAN VOTE FOR THAT IN PLACE OF A GAME IF YOU WANT, OR JUST VOTE FOR GAMES. JUST VOTE!

Hello and thanks for your interest in the Unsanctioned Unofficial Game Pass Game Club. If you don't know what it is you can see more about the Game Club here. There is also where you can suggest games for future cycles, though this current vote will stay with the games listed below.

To vote in this thread simply list your top two choices with one labeled choice 1 and the other labeled choice 2. Choice 1 gets 3 points and choice 2 gets 1 point. The game with the highest point count wins. If there is a tie then I will break it, but I will not be voting otherwise.

You can vote even if you have not participated in the Game Club (and voting does not obligate you to participate but we ask that you not vote if you have no interest in participating) and you do not need to vote to participate in this or future cycles. You are also free to vote for games you are interested in and not participate if that game does not win, though it's more fun if people are willing to try games they may not be initially interested in.

Voting will close on Decembr 4, when the results will be announced. I will tabulate the votes then so you may change your vote at any time prior by editing your post. Please do not make multiple voting posts in this thread, though discussion is encouraged. You can feel free to campaign for the game you want to win and make arguments why it is the best choice.

Games for which there appears to be interest will remain on the list in subsequent weeks but may be cycled out if we reach a point where there are too many nominated game for orderly voting. Games removed from the list will remain eligible to be nominated for future cycles at which point they will be put back on the list.

NOMINATED GAMES:

TAKE A CYCLE OFF: Taking 2 weeks off from UUGPGC to think about how to evolve it moving forward and do other things during the holidays, like play Balan Wonderworld again. (Approximately 336 hours long.)

You Suck at Parking Vehicle obstacle racing game where the goal is to park. (Approximately 9 hours long.)

Shadow Warrior 3: Over the top FPS game continuing the revival of the irreverent Shadow Warrior Series (Approximately 5.5 hours long)

Infinite Guitars: A cross genre rhythm game RPG where you use the power of music to save the world (Approximately 7.5 hours long)

Amnesia: The Bunker: The latest in the Amnesia series of games where you hide from things that go bump or sploosh in the night and try to escape with your life and your sanity (Approximately 5 hours long)

The Big Con: An adventure game where you scam and steal your way across the American landscape of the 1990s. Will there be Zima? Probably not. (Approximately 4 hours long.)

Eastern Exorcist: 2D action combat game based on Chinese mythology. Somewhat janky with a dodgy translation. (Approximately 5 hours long.)

Solar Ash: Extremely stylized 3D platforming adventure game by the makers of Hyper Light Driver (approximately 5.5 hours long).

A Short Hike: An acclaimed narrative game about hiking up a mountain. (approximately 1.5 hours long.)

Broforce: Action platformer with destructible levels starring parodies of famous action heroes. (approximately 7 hours long.)

Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem: Throwback FPS featuring tons of enemies and creative weapons. (approximately 4.5 hours long.)

Battletoads (2020): 2D game with variety of gameplay styles including beat 'em up and other sections. Critically divisive. (Approximately 4 hours long.)

I'm all for skipping a cycle since it's the end of the year and I still have to write my thoughts for Cocoon and actually finish Jusant (a game I loved but had an emergency to take care of and haven't found the appropriate time to get back to).

I was also thinking of making a post where people talk about other things they've played on Gamepass this year that don't necessarily fit the scope of the club.

Just bumping this to see if others agree with Nobo Ners or if there are other votes. Will probably close this one early tomorrow if there are no other votes.

I've been loving Against the Storm (via PC Game Pass), but it extremely doesn't fit the terms of this club. HLTB lists a mainline completion time of TBD and a main plus extras of 92.5 hours. I don't think I hang with it quite that long, but could there be some potential for "dip toe in" games?

Ok with skipping this cycle (granted I participated in less than half this year), hope I can play more next year as my youngest grows up.

I would be okay with taking a break and I know that the Album Club also plans to take a break until 2024. The Album Club was also thinking of something that might be good for the Game Pass Game Club wherein they were talking about a master thread with links to every single pick for their last season in a single spot. That definitely would make it easier for me to track down the threads I did not comment in and want to share a take or two.

Whether you think this has enough support to host a Game Pass Game Club Season Two GOTY is up to you as well. For the future, this activity is greatly appreciated.

Okay there are zero votes for actual games so I'm calling it. I'll post some kind of wrap up thing in the next few days but the big thing I want to talk about in that post is whether we need to restructure. Would there be more participation if we focused on newer games (threads on games released this year like Cocoon do tend to get more participation) or opened things up to longer games completed over a longer period of time? I don't think we're going to do better if we say "Finish Starfield in the next 2 weeks" but if we expanded it to two months that would be a big chunk of club time and I don't know how many people would be interested anyway.

Things to contemplate.
