Just finished watching Load Our Last SNESaves (which was killer by the way) and I could see the sadness in Vinny's eyes when Dan and Bakalar did not want to see him play The 7th Saga. What's it going to take to get Vinny to play The 7th Saga on a stream/video?

Similar to Vinny, I spent a good chunk of my childhood playing JRPGs on the SNES (Final Fantasy II/IV and III/VI, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, etc.) and The 7th Saga may be the only one of those games that I never beat. Why? Because it was programmed by a bunch of people who hate people who play video games. There are parts of it that are beyond broken in difficulty if not approached perfectly. Still, it is fun as hell until you hit a broken/impossible part. There are 7 playable starting characters and you have the ability to find and recruit the other playable characters as your partner out in the world. It is the game with a much darker, more "adult" look than other JRPGs of the time.

So, I ask again, what's it going to take to get a video entitled "Breakin Vinny: The 7th Saga", "Vinny Saga", "The 7th Vinny", "Saga or Shite", etc.?

It was pretty funny that he did not get to play it considering that he has mentioned that game several times over the years.

I support The 7th Vinny =)

From the TvTropes article on it:

"This game is notorious for the nasty tricks it pulls on the player, most of which were exacerbated by Enix's bean-counting localization team. In an effort to pad out the length, they had a habit of jacking up the damage output and random encounters in their games, rendering some of them unplayable. The English version of 7th Saga is one of the biggest casualties of this approach. Blessedly, it was also one of the last."

"Due to developer carelessness in the US and EU versions, you get smaller bonuses upon levelup, and the game was not rebalanced accordingly. (Naturally there are fan-created patches that fix this.) It's entirely possible for some characters to die on the very first monster they encounter. The amount of level grinding needed to get anywhere borders on the obscene with certain characters. But the game caps your level just a little too soon so you're never quite the level you need to be. Equipment is also overpriced and underpowered. Monsters regularly thrown nasty status effects and instant death attacks at you. It's the hardest RPG on the SNES without question."

Apparently the Japanese version of the game is much more reasonable.

I'm pretty sure Dan, Abby, and Alex would go on strike if he ever tried it.

Watching Vinny get outnumbered by the philistines he works with can be very disheartening at times.

I just wanna be like "I'm with you Vinny! Transformers are awesome! Final Fantasy 3/6 is one of the greatest games of all time man!! Keep the faith!! You're not alone buddy!! I've heard of oak-tag!!!!"

The thing is that Real 7th Saga, which is to say the non patched fucked up version America got, is entirely antithetical to a stream because you have roughly 20 mins of play before its time to grind against birds for an hour.

While I don't need to see Vinny play through 7th Saga, I would love a series of Vinny diving into his childhood of games, where each episode covers one or two games. Just seeing him turn into nostalgic cotton candy is heartwarming that it hurts.

@efesell:

I envision Vinny charging ahead without grinding and getting his ass handed to him. I see no scenario where he is beating The 7th Saga, I just want the man to get his chance to play his game and see how far he can get.

If nothing else, I’d be interested in seeing who he goes with from the 7 starting characters.
