Wathc Jeff on the Bonus Round!
"The new Jeff Gerstmann Bonus Round episode is now up on GameTrailers!I clicked on it, and I watched Bonus Round...not OMFG. = P
Well, I watched Jeff on the Bonus Round...sit there and say little to nothing. Meanwhile, Jaffe controlled the floor for half the episode trying to defend the PS3.
Regardless, I think that "The Breakthrough"...ya know, that Jaffe HAS all the fucking consoles...was something that could've just been that entire section.Agreed. It was bland, and there wasn't much of a discussion until the later half.I felt like that was a wasted episode where they could've talked more about EA's strategy, which I was FAR more interested in."
Its was pretty interesting this time. Bonus round have had some low points lately. A thing i fucking hate though is reading some of the comments, fucking sickens me to be labeled a gamer with such people. Acting like they know everything and have more insight than people actually working in the business. And is just so mind blowingly stupid to see people refer to the certain people in the panel as "the fag guy" or "the guy with the shirt"... i mean they are all introduced by name, so if your gonna talk shit about any of them at least get their damn name straight.
How can you defend the PS3? Sony were ahead by miles last generation and now they're dead last and falling back even more. The PS3 has been a complete failure for Sony and has only lost them money. I don't understand how you can say anything but that unless you're biased towards Sony which he obviously is because he makes games for Playstation consoles.
Cheers.
Bloody hell. Twilight, try to take more care when posting, especially with topic titles given the fact mods cannot alter them..
That was the best bonus round period. It was brutal and it was rational, mighty fine watchings.
Post-Edit Jaffe apparently had an agenda, it must have came from him knowing before-hand what they were going to talk about. There is no way he would have jumped like that unless he prepaired.
"wow kinda sad when u look at the comments for that vid :( everyone makin fun of jeff and packter n such D:""that fatguy looks like FatBastard from Austin Powers LOL."
ha
I love how people hate on Jaffe... Guy is a fucking legend. He has an opinion and he sticks by it - none of this bullshit "I'll give you some leeway just in case..." crap. Anyone who establishes a franchise at the level of quality and revere of God Of War deserves some respect in my opinion -- which is something none of us, nor anyone on the panel, have managed - capiche?
Sadly, sitting in between Jaffe and Pachter, Jeff is unlikely to get word in throughout the whole series.
Nice find! I'm watching it now, I'll post after I watch it. But before I finish I just have to say....
lol @ acoustics
"Just like the last time Jeff was on bonus round Keighley calls him "gertststsmann" since he have no idea how to pronounce his last name and then Jeff sits their and can´t even be bothered to get a word out since the other 2 are set to talk as much as they can."Yeah, but what can he say, he's the man with a face for radio.
"Is it just me, or is David Jaffe an asshole?"
It isn't just you, he definitely came off as belligerent; yet I wouldn't go as far as to label him an asshole. Perhaps he is, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm the kind of person that for every 8/10 times I meet someone new, I come across as an asshole. A lot of people think I'm an asshole because of how "into it" I can get, and because I am admittedly a rather stubborn person. But in actuality, if you know me, I am one of the nicest people you can find. So who knows when it comes to Jaffe? Well, actually Jeff, Geoff, and Michael probably know. But wutevz, that's not the point. Hopefully you know what I am getting at! =P

"Looks like Jeff didn't even want to be there."I don't think you're right. I am not him, but it looked to me like Jeff was enjoying himself. I feel like Jeff is the kind of guy who might echo the recent sentiments of our (assuming you are American; even though that is pretty arrogant of me to do so) President, "...because I like to know what I am talking about before I speak." I am of the mind that Jeff waits until he can provide input before he talks, rather than talking for the sake of talking. lulz 'cus I need to learn this skill! ;D

"Well, I watched Jeff on the Bonus Round...sit there and say little to nothing."This was the most interesting Bonus Round segment I have seen to date. I disagree that Jeff's perceived silence is representative of a lack of contribution. My reasoning for that: *See Above^^* He made some interesting points, ones which Pachter seemed to find spot-on...

" I far more rather him talk most of the show than Pachter's stupid ass."
...and contrary to pause's crass remarks, I think Pachter is very intelligent and informed.

Anyway, thanks for the post, Twilight. I thoroughly enjoyed the episode; solid shit right thur! :)
I liked Pachter on the broadcast, too. I thought he held his own against Jaffe very well, without appearing condescending or evasive. He addressed many of Jaffe's questions, had good interplay with Geoff and Jeff, and came off appearing relaxed and confident.
If there was a failing in this 1st episode it was the inability of Geoff Keighley to involve all the guests equally. He should have controlled the ebb and flow of the roundtable more limiting some of Jaffe's time and inviting Jeff to participate more.
I agree w/Penguin, Geoff needed to reign Jaffe in a bit. Instead, he got defensive himself as Jaffe questioned the motives of the show. Jaffe admitted he was very hungover and it showed. He was impatient, and more than a bit rude. Doesn't mean he's an ass or not a knowlegeable guest, but I wish Kieghley would balance the takes better and keep the discussion on track instead of letting the willfull guests run things.
As for Jeff he was kinda in observation mode, waitng his turn, being respectful. And Jeff was right imo about EA pursuing Army of Two instead of trying to get a new concept like ME refined and improved. Jaffe was pretty reactionary in response and not thoughtful at all about Jeff's comments. So much for dissecting the show, lol. Fun stuff anyway, and thanks to the op for the linky!

He's dynamite if you're discussing game design, but he really (as he admitted) has no grasp or concept of market-based perceptions of products and things like that. It was a little embarassing to watch. Especially because he looked so much smaller than the other dudes.
