Like the title says what games do you think goes well with headphones? What games fully utilize a headset to give your ears an incredible experience?

Be it being able to hear the direction of enemies and explosions in Battlefield 3, fully immersing yourself in the world of Dark souls with every single noise the world/monster makes or nodding your head to the awesome music in Shadows of the Damned.

What do you recommend must be played with headphones on?

Weirdly specific, but Frozen Synapse jumps to mind when thinking of games that benefit from headphones. Having that soundtrack pumped directly into your head is very much needed to get the full cyberpunk vibe of the netscape.

Honestly, I've yet to hear a speaker set up that is quite as impactful as using good hi-fi headphones.

I use headphones with all the games I play but Battlefield 3 is most definitely the game to have on the list. DICE always excel when it comes to sound quality, though Forza 4 also sounds pretty incredible with good headphones. Battlefield 3 on War Tapes is the most realistic experience I've ever had in terms of audio, because you can hear so much so clearly.

The sounds in Bad Company 2 blew me away. Standing next to a tank firing was such an eargasm. Battlefield 3 has great sounds as well. Dirt 2 and 3 is pretty good too.

This. You can play games without headphones? I thought it was a system requirement.

I only play with headphones. BF3 is leaps and bounds beyond any game soundwise. Dead Space sounds pretty good too.

Same here. I'd say the Batman Arkham games are notably good. The audio is very 3D.

I only use them for handheld games, never ever used them for a console.

Mostly for games like Beat Hazard or Audiosurf really, other than that my 7.1 suits my needs for awesome sounding.. sounds just fine for other games on the Console or other games on the PC

Any horror game- if you're playing it to be scared. Portal 2, too, for its use of subtle ambient noises.

I originally got surround sound headphones to sound whore in Modern Warfare but since realized how much more immersive all gaming is with surround sound headphones on.

My audio system is worth more than my Mustang. I wince when I consider using headphones. And now that I have a house, I can actually use my speakers at more than .001% volume without pissing anyone off. Except the cats, but fuck them.

Amnesia with a real pair of headphones and Dolby Headphone (not 'gaming' headsets) is way scarier than playing it with surround sound speakers, I have both.

Although playing in front of my 5.1 setup with a keyboard and mouse is awkward so I'm sort of biased.

Child of Eden is a completely different experience with headphones, as is Dark Souls.
