What is the greatest Kart Racing Game of All Time?

MK 8 Deluxe, although I am just going off having played MK 8 before. That game is really fantastic. I bet with all the DLC it adds a lot too. There are other good ones (the SEGA one is very good) and ones I am nostalgic for (probably MK 64, which I played as a kid and even my roomates still played when we in college only 4 years ago now). CTR was a fun game too.

I wasn't a fan, but I feel like Blur should be in this poll. The game is basically a stealth cart game, at least from my memory of it. Some people love it. Maybe it's not as much of a Kart game as I thought. I had just played the demo and not really enjoyed it.

CTR was fantastic. It's a shame that Mario Kart never gave a boosting system like that a try (given that CTR was a one-game series)

Probably MK8, atleast the wii u version, I haven't played the switch one. I also really love Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed and Crash Team Racing though, so it was a bit of a tough one to pick for me. CTR is probably the closest one to my heart, because I played it as a child. Honorable mention goes to Mario Kart Double Dash, played that a lot with my father as a teenager.

Weirdly enough, the edit option is not letting me make a change on the main page, but how could I forget about Diddy Kong Racing. Sadly I can't edit the poll options so go ahead and type in Diddy Kong Racing if you'd like. I really messed up there. Should I just delete this poll and make a new one to make sure all the right options are included?

Seriously though, I haven't played a shit-ton of kart racers, but MK8 is pretty damn good.

Mario Kart 64 is the only cart game that matters.

Mario Kart DS was a great game.

I would have said Mario Kart 64, but now it's easily Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed specifically on PC, there's very little you could do to make that game better.

While it uses real life cars instead of carts, I still think that Blur is the best cart racer I've played. The racing is still centered around collecting power-ups and loose, drifty steering like more fantastical cart racers.

It's a shame we'll never see a sequel to Blur. RIP Bizarre Creations :(

This poll is missing Diddy Kong Racing, the actual best the kart racing game of all time.

Should be an option for other, missing Speed freaks and the Ayrton Senna kart title from the PS1 era.

MK8D is close but damn CTR was so good...also shoutouts to Konami Krazy Racers for having Gray Fox in a cart racer though.

My friends, family and I have played way too much Mario Kart Wii for me to say anything else. Totally looking forward to Deluxe when I get a Switch though

Haven't played it on Switch yet, but the one thing missing to make that MK8 Kart perfection was a decent battle mode.

Shame about the lack of Diddy Kong on this list though.

Mario kart DS was pretty sweet.

I feel like mechanically its probably Mario Kart 8, but I also have a soft spot for Double Dash and how weirdly strategic it got picking specific racers and carts to get the best item / weight combo.

Modnation Racers is fantastic as a "Holy shit someone made an AT-AT in this game what the christ" game though. The racing in that game doesn't feel all that great, but man the community behind it was top notch.

Y'know, I actually had some fun building some tracks in ModNation Racers, but I'll go with Mario Kart Wii because that's the latest iteration of Mario Kart I played and I'm also a slut for Rainbow Road.

As for Diddy Kong Racing, yeah, shame that the OP overlooked it, but also fuck Wizpig. Like, seriously, fuck that guy. That race with him is my personal Vietnam War.

My vote goes to Mario Kart: Double Dash, even if it was the first game to ever inspire rage and frustration in me as a kid. Rainbow Road was no joke.

I think this poll is 100% which game did you grow up with. After checking this thread I looked up Diddy Kong Racing on youtube and just let the nostalgia cover me like a comfortable blanket.

All these games and you didn't list Street Racer? IT HAD A SOCCER MODE. IT WAS THE ROCKET LEAGUE OF IT'S DAY!

Diddy Kong Racing is the one I played the most by far.

Sonic and All Stars Transformed is legitimately my favorite kart racer, though CTR and Diddy Kong Racing aren't bad either.

Objectively this list is a failure because Diddy Kong Racing isn't on the list and it's either the greatest kart racing game of all time or second greatest kart racing game of all time.

The list is Diddy Kong Racing or Mario Kart Double Dash!! then Mario Kart 8. DKR was so fantastic but there's a layer of strategy and depth to Double Dash!! that is unparalleled. Nothing is even quite on that level to even be comparable. Hell, the answer is Double Dash!! then DKR then MK8.

• Super Mario Kart invented the genre and I spent who knows how many hours playing it with my brother. Much better than MK64.

@bollard: Ok, I know I done messed up when not only did I forget to include Diddy Kong Racing on there, but the Lego Racers games are missing too because I myself played the GBC version to death when I was young. How could I dismiss one of my own childhood games!?

Maybe I can do what Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did and make a Deluxe version of this poll...
