It  really isn't significant.  It's just for bragging rights.  I'm assuming it's calculated by number of posts, edits, blog posts, etc.
I have many subs waiting to be accepted.  The guys are drowning in subs, and have a very small team right now.  It's going to be over 24 hours before your subs get accepted for a while.
