ReTarDedFisHy thinks his favorite game is Final Fantasy VII. The perfect combination of narrative, gameplay, story and musical scores. Say what you want about it being overrated, it won't budge it's already legendary status, and neither will you budge the FisHy.
The fact that Fire Emblem 4 hasn't been mentioned yet is unforgivable; I guess my having seen games like Conker's Bad Fur Day, Panzer Dragoon Saga, & Sonic 3 & Knuckles makes up for it. A bit.

My favorite game of all time tends to change every 5 or so years, so I'll just list every game that once had that title (no matter how long) in no real order: SMB3, Kirby Superstar, Megaman X4, Megaman Legends, Final Fantasy IX, Mana-Khemia, Persona 3: FES, and Persona 4.
I do have to give shout-outs to Donkey Kong 3, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Mana-Khemia 2, Phantom Brave, Pokemon Emerald, Megaman Legends 2, and many, many more.
Evidently, I love a lot of games. Most aren't the greatest games ever, but they click. Like Mana-Khemia 1, for example, isn't a very great game, but damn did I find it fun.

Halo: Combat Evolved takes top spot so hard it bashed through it's constraints and gave spot 2 a concussion. I have Custom Edition for PC and it's still as fun as it was back when it came out. Except better, because of the "Custom" part (Maps and mods ftw).
Second would be...hell, all the Pokemon games (well, the non-spin-off ones, RBY/GSC/RSE/FRLG/DPPt/HGSS, regular Green too, I guess).
Third...Mercenaries: Playground Of Destruction.
Then a two-way tie between Black Hawk Down (+ Green Sabre) and Command And Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge. Fifth would be Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (followed closely by Vice City).
a certain time period of WoW will live on as the best gaming experience and the most hours i've had fun playing a game for what is likely the rest of my life.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (1) has been my favorite game since 2003 when it arrived on the Xbox. However, I must say that is in serious danger of being replaced by Bioware's current orgy of blood and sex, Dragon Age: Origins. I haven't finished it yet so I really don't know. But, I do know I haven't been the joyously addicted to a game since KOTOR. When I am done with my current run of DA:O, I plan to go back and play KOTOR again on my PC (thank you Steam). Although, Mass Effect 2 will probably be played in between the two.
