Except from the Final fantasy IV soundtrack I have not listened to any gaming music so I was wondering if anyone in this forum listened to it. Also does anyone know if command and conquer have released a soundtrack.
What is your favourite Gaming soundtrack ?
@pyromagnestir Just to ask did you play the game before listening to the soundtrack, Because I'm wondering if most people who listening to soundtracks like it because of the actual music or the memory's that the game give you. Saying that it might be both.
Recently: FTL: Faster Than Light has a really amazing soundtrack, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown's is strong too. The latter was done by Deus Ex composer Michael McCann, and it's pretty easy to feel the parallels.
Game soundtracks have never really been memorable to me, but Borderlands 2 has been pretty awesome. A few of the tracks sound Nine Inch Nail-ish.
Oh man, I can't pick one favorite. In no particular order:
@Shotgunblast97: Several C&C games have definitely had released soundtracks. The Red Alert games have their OSTs on iTunes. I had the Tiberian Sun soundtrack on CD. It came with the box set of Tiberian Sun and the expansion.
@JackOhara: Yes! Jesper Kyd is great too! A friend of mine was his assistant for a summer.
i can't pick favorites, but here's some that i like:
I predominantly use game soundtracks while I'm writing rather than as general listening, so keep that in mind:
• Darren Korb's Bastion soundtrack is phenomenal
• Jim Guthrie's Sword and Sworcery soundtrack is awesome, as is all his other work (he did Indie Game: The Movie as well)
• Frank Klepacki did all the old C&C; games and his work on those was great. His site allows you to listen to basically all his work in a flash window, it's pretty awesome.
• The Halo series
• Borderlands 2 and some of Borderlands 1
• Deus Ex
• FTL
• Binding of Isaac
• Super Meat Boy
Bomberman Hero will always have one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time.
