What is your vision of the future?

Well, if the 2012 theory is to be believed then we only have about another 3 years on the planet, which sucks. Though if you're sensible, then you'll have disregarded that theory a long time ago and be happily living your life safe in the knowledge that the end of a calendar doesn't spell doomsday for all six billion of us. 
 
Personally, with the way the world is turning right now, we'll probably end up like Fallout 3 real-time. Though this is a very pessimistic point of view, oh well.

Religion and atheism are not going to live together side by side. The shit is going to hit the pan.

The world will not end in 2012.  People just over intemperate ancient texts to sound more interesting. 
 
Apocalypse translates to 'revelation' in Greek, so if anything something of great change will occur.  (No, not the world exploding)   

Russia will launch all 5 billion of their nuclear missiles at the US and.....
 

Everyone will be mandated to play Halo.

Luchadeer will take over the world and force everyone to wear absolutely nothing in public except for a Luchador mask.

No matter what happens in 2012, I'll be listening to R.E.M - It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) at least once a day that year.

I think Star Trek TNG got it right when they predicted this in the first episode.  Q takes the Enterprise crew to a facsimile of Chinese courts from 2079.

Also, PS4 and Xbox720 will have a war, which will result in the world to be killed except for people in Mario costumes.

How far in the future? I really hope that we as humans are the first life to super-populate the universe (I mean all of it).
 
I saw in a conference once an astronomer said (big paraphrasing) that if we can colonize Mars, we guarantee that humans cannot become extinct via a single event (except sun-exploding, I guess). That will be a glorious day for us.

In another conference I saw, another astronomer said that the quickest way to world peace would be to realize that we as humans are not alone in the universe. And therefore, the nations of Earth would band together under common desire to protect ourselves.

So are you going to live in the subways if the apocalypse happens? "

My view is one in which global economics leads to the poorer countries eventually equalizing with western wages (which of course means less wages for westerners). Overall this is much better for everyone though. Global equality FTW!!! Oh and china will become the world power the way the U.S. is which will be a good or bad thing depending on whether or not democracy and free enterprise ever takes hold in china.
